Intelligent hauntings are aware of their surroundings, Residual are not. Anyone have any other opinions?

Judging from the stories I've heard, I'll have to go with residual; I have heard of entities that pass through walls and don't quite touch floors or walls, as if they were aligned to a previous arrangement of a house that had been remodeled since their deaths. That, to me, points to fixedness and a nonawareness of surroundings. This would also suggest that perhaps the residual energy is not a sentient "ghost" but an electromagnetic phenomenon that may or may not be initiated by certain conditions at a person's death. But this is just my opinion; I haven't studied it in depth.

you may desire to attempt conversing with the spirit. i think of it fairly is secure to assume, that if it hasnt attempted to scare/injury you yet, the its no longer a possesion type haunting, for this reason you're in no risk. attempt asking question to confirm in case you get a reaction, use "one knock for confident, 2 knocks for no", work together with the spirit in some way, or use a digital voice recorder (could desire to be digital) to confirm in case you will pay attention it talk. good success to you.
