I am getting married Monday 5,2007.We could not afford a wedding,so we are going to the courthouse. My 12 year old daughter will be holding a flower girl basket. My 10 year old son has a ring berriers pillow. We have a friend to take pictures and one to run the camcorder. My brother and his wife will be there and so will my 18 year old daughter and her friend. We sent invitations to our friends and the rest of our families. We invited them to our house for wedding cake and punch. We are on a "beggers" budget.Do we need to add anything to the menu,or is cake and punch enough?

Cake and punch is enough, by the time you pay for that and purchase plates, cutlery, napkins and the ingredients for the punch and ice you'll have spent more money than you thought you would have. It's not important to fill their bellies, just enjoy the love and fellowship and celebrate your special day!
Good luck and best wishes for a long, loving life together!

First let me say congratulations on your wedding.Cake and punch is fine. But you can always get you kids together and make some finger sandwiches.Get some soft cream cheese and a drop of food coloring and chopped olives and you have some pretty colorful sandwiches that your 10 and 12 year old can pass around as they act as host and hostess.Egg salad finger sandwiches work too.You can slice up some raw veggies with a sour cream dip.And fruit that is in season always goes fast.Low cal and yummy.Any of that will not cost all that much at all.I wish I could be there to toss some rice and try to catch the bouquet.Best wishes.

What you could do is go to a good deli in your town and have two or three trays of coldcuts made up and three different salads, like potato salad, macaroni salad, and three bean salad. Order enough rolls for the amount of people you are inviting and with the cake and punch, you will have a lovely wedding reception on a as you say beggars budget. These trays will not break the bank I assure you. Or if you don't want them made up, then buy the coldcuts yourself, such as ham, turkey, salami, swiss, american cheese and do the trays yourself or have someone help you. Good Luck.

I agree with the other person, if you invited them for cake & punch, then that should be enough. If they want food, have them all bring something to share with everyone. Otherwise just have a great wedding and enjoy the fact that you are getting married...everything else doesn't matter!

As long as you are having it not at a meal time (ie 10am, 2-3pm,7pm or later) you want to avoid meal times and that way there is no reason for people to expect to be fed more then cake and punch. Congratulations Good Luck and God Bless

If you just feel they need more than cake and punch then devise a quick menu and have everyone to bring a dish. We do this every month for our family gathering, it turns out great and there's so much food left over that we all end up taking back more than we brought. :~)

Congrats and I hope it goes well for you.

Are you getting married close to meal time? If so, your guests will be hungry and will want something other than cake and punch. If that's the case, I recommend finger foods or deli platters you can get from your grocery store or Walmart.

It not close to meal time, adding nuts and mints to cake and punch will be enough.

That would definitely be enough, short, simple, and to the point. It's totally up to you. At least you informed your guest that they are just showing up for cake and punch.

the right thanks to save on a wedding ceremony is to trim the customer record. you're able to have a outside barbeque, or in someone's' homestead. Get your cake and plant existence from the food market. purchase your dress on sale.
