How old is your kitty? If she is 6 months or older, she might be in heat. In which case, she needs to be spayed. Some vets will try to work out a payment plan with you, if you can't come up with the money yourself. And sometimes I understand the SPCA or Humane Society will help by offering reduced spaying.

Do you have her spayed? If not that is a big reason. Or in the sink try putting the water on just a little. My cat loves the water, and when it's not on she cries.

Write a letter to this address P.O. Box 1755
Roanoke, Texas 76262

They are a non-profit agency where I got my cat. They are very loving and caring. While you write the letter tell them details about your cat, like how old she is, and decribe her actions exactly. They will most likely be able to tell you whats wrong. And if your cat is not spayed, tell them how you can't afford it and see if they can tell you a number to call or something. I trust them very much! I really want you to get this cat taken care of. Sorry I didn't say this earlier, but their name is Classy Cats. Hope they can tell you something!

First of all, the possiblities could be:

1. She may be in heat if:
-she walks around the house crying alot
-she lays on her belly with her tail up exposing her vagina
-rolls around on the ground and starts meowing for no reason
*If shes in heat be sure to watch her when someone leaves the house because she may try to run outside to find her a male cat to mate with

*Get her spayed A.S.A.P(try calling humane society or local rescue shelters-they may be able to help you)

-Benefits for spaying cats
-No more of those loud annoying cries
-she will benefit health wise for example:it will help prevent cancer in her uterus etc....

2. What breed of cat is she.....
-i know that siamese cats have the characteristics of following you around and crying (not because theyre hurt just because thats what they do to get your attention)

*Hopefully theres nothing wrong with her...BUT you should really get her checked by a vet if you are a first time cat owner...Try calling around to your local vets and asking for advice or try calling the HUMANE SOCIETY or RESCUE SHELTERS.......

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Does she eat well? When my cat was really sick she was sitting under a bath and would not get out at all or eat. Only the vet can figure out what's wrong. I would do anything I could - find the money and show her to the vet if you think she is sick.

Might be that your cat is going into heat. If she is, she'll meow for a few days. You can call a vet or human society in your area to see if there is an organization that will spay your cat at a discounted price.

If your cat is a girl she is probably in heat. Our cat used to SCREAM until we got her fixed. If she keeps it up for over 4 days i would call the vet and see if they can give you any info over the phone no charge. Good Luck

You are right to be concerned. You must get the cat checked out -she could be in real pain. OK you dont have themoney, but dont you have a Cats charity like Cats Protection League? Check the phone book.

Jesus...It is so freakin sad that people who truly love their pets can't find affordable vet care.

These vets charge way to much money to care for sick animals!

They want anywhere from 25-70$ JUST to WALK IN THE
DOOR! God forbid you need testing then you are nearing the 100$ mark. Then comes medications and 200$ later you go home to treat kitty for Pink Eye! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!

Once I had a cat I was caring for. He was a stray. I fed him and he lived in our backyard. He got a really bad mouth infection one weekend. I was in hysterics! To get him in the door and medicated on the weekend would of been close to 200$ AND since he was a stray they wanted 30$ to vaccinate him against Rabies. We did not have the money. Plus we had 3 cats inside our house that we payed for to be fixed/vaccinated recently.
We were told by one a$$hole to hold "Bruiser" down and pour "Hydrogen Peroxide" all over his mouth/jaw area! HELLO! A cat named "Bruiser" is named that for a reason!

Come Monday he was all better oddly enough. We began making appts. to get him neutered/vaccinated before the cold weather set in so we could keep him in on the cold, snowy, rainy days or when ever we wanted his company or he wanted ours (which was often on both ends!) He vanished. I saw him on Christmas day and he looked tired/skinny/weakened.
We never got him fixed because we could not find him. He has been spotted but when I searched for him I came up empty handed and sad :( I hope "Bruiser" is ok. He was a HUDGE sweetie pie!

This Monday we are bringing "Shadow" in to the vet. It is 54$ to walk in the door plus 45$ for the FIV/FLK test she will need! If she needs more it is time to don the fishnets and hit the corner baby! LOL. A crude joke but there is a grain of truth in it, the desperation "poor" pet owners feel in treating their sick kids is heartbreaking.

Now you need to get a hold of kitty and visually inspect her. Are her eyes/nose runny? Is it colored? Is she coughing, hacking, sneezing, vomiting? How is her poo-poo/pee-pee looking? Does she go to the bathroom at all? Is she eating/drinking? How much? She may need more water than food right now if she is truly ill. Focus on her hydration not nutrition. Is her energy level up/down more than usual? Is she restless? Is she foaming at the mouth? Is she aggressive to you or others or herself?

Keep a detailed journal of her sickness and behaviors and symptoms.

If kitty truly is sickly and you truly can't pay for help, then go to the closest RICH town/city that has a shelter in it. Say you found kitty that day while you were shopping at a local store or even saw him on the side of the road. Remember keep kitty in that town. Remember you don't know kitty at all. Then say you noticed kitty acting strange. Depending on what you think is wrong with him is what you tell the shelter staff. For example for a Urinary Tract Infection I said " I noticed this cat trying to pee in my car on the way over and he was straining and crying out and there was a little blood in the pee" .
Fit the words with your cats situation but don't act to knowledgeable about the cat after all kitty is a "stranger" to you.
Casually find out when kitty will be up for adoption, how much to adopt kitty, what are the rules to adopt kitty?, Can you adopt him?, If not then you get a friend/loved one to adopt the kitty on the "DL" you know what I mean??

I know this sounds like alot BUT it is not if you truly love your kitty and want to keep him healthy. People may "yell" at me for encouraging devious behavior BUT I love my cats and I would do it for them anytime. Besides these over priced vets force you into corners!

I used the above method ONLY after I exhausted ALL other options. Call any and everywhere you know of that can give you information about getting your kitty low cost/free medical help.
Don't allow yourself to be brushed off either. Be persistant and be aggressive.
