Of course, I mean "what is your primary reference source for your belief or non-belief in the afterlife?"

And, why should we who disagree with you respect your source?

Dear "chicky" - Why shouldn't we respect your senses? My belief in the Holy Spirit is based on my mental, emotional, and physical senses (chills of pleasure down my back).

Did theChurch Christians think I was an Atheist, and visa versa? I am neither; I am a self-read Christian. I am suspicious of all Bible verses except the ones that promote harmony.

I go by what I can see, feel, hear, taste, smell and by common sense. I don't mind if people disagree with me. I would hope others would respect my beliefs but I really don't care if they do or not. I try to respect other's beliefs but I do sometimes find it difficult if they are way over the top and if they believe they could not live a day of their life without "god." I think some people need to empower themselves more than alot of them do and not rely on "god" to help them - they need to help themselves.

Belief in after life is a profound personal belief that goes beyond the barrier of human understanding. It is the flutter you feel in your uterus when the fetus begins to move.
It is a sense of something beyond what is within the 5 senses.
I never sought a source as I knew for myself there was more than this mere existence. But if you'd like a source I'd say that when I read Conversations with God, I found my bible.

Respect is something we all deserve whether we agree or not.

I grew up on a farm and I've seen many deaths. I know that I'm a part of nature and I can see no reason to suppose that I might be exempt from any natural process.

As for the "soul," I doubt whether any such thing exists. We've learned that consciousness and personality are functions of the human brain; the brain cannot survive the death of the physical body; therefore there's no reason to suppose that there's some immaterial part of me that will survive my death.

So while I suppose there's a remote chance of an afterlife, I'm not making any plans for it.

I experienced it directly during a five hour period in which I experienced everything, everywhere, and everywhen.

Is this proof? Only to me. I don't think anyone sane would simply believe me just because I say so (I wouldn't want someone to do so).

I can never doubt God's existance (or the existance of a number of other things). They are facts to me.

At the same time, I can never again doubt the benefits of scientific method or logic.

Good luck in your search, and one day, maybe we can bring it all together, assuming we are all looking for the truth rather than "being right".

Keep speaking up, everyone.

There is no evidence to support the idea of a soul, as it is usually defined. Nor is there any evidence to support the existence of an afterlife. I won't believe in anything without at least some evidence.

As a Christian, I'm not here to "please" you. I'm lead by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will tell me what is right and what is wrong. At times when there is no right or wrong, I get to make my own choice. Clear as mud? Whether or not you respect anything is not a concern of mine.

Edgar Allan Poe is standing right next to me, and he says there is an afterlife.

Christians think they're such "experts" on "AFTER" we die, and it's not even based on any factual experiences. It's based on nothing.
