Katara's name might be derived from "catarata," which is Spanish/Portuguese for "waterfall."

Oh nonono!!!Katara means curse in greek, I wouldn't do that!!!It has nothing to do with waterfalls either cause the real word for that is katarraktis which means where the curse washes off.And it is also greek that has a close meaning to the purification of bad things.the catharsis.People in aciet times purified everything through water.
