M-60's are fine especially regarding their cyclic rate. The M-4 is an effective weapon...the Blackwater guys let me "borrow" one when I traveled with them while in Iraq. As a former field artillery officer the 155mm howitzer is excellent especially when you get to experience the adrenaline rush when you see the a battery go Fire For Effect.

But I have to admit that I have 2 favorite military "guns" not mentioned. The classic Thompson sub-machine gun that spits out .45 caliber rounds can be a devastating weapon. Nice stopping power. But top on my list is the M-2 .50 caliber machine gun with an effective firing range of 2000 meters and a maximum range of just over 4 miles...that's more than 21,000 feet! When I went through OCS more years ago than I care to comment on!...we were require to familiarize on twin .50's. In my opinion..the perfect home defense weapon!

Additionally when I was in Iraq working for the DoD I was always glad to see that the Humvee leading the convoys I traveled in were equipped with an M-2.

The idea of the 'best gun' is tough to answer. You really need to know what situation the gun will be in.

However...I'll give it a try:

The best all around military gun is the U.S. Army M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun. It has stood the test of time and battle. It is easy to use and very effective against the enemy. The U.S. Army has used it unmodified (almost) since the first World War.

It is perhaps the best general purpose weapon ever invented.

First of all, 6'3" and 295lbs? That's not a SEAL, that's a WALRUS. Anyway, I think you'll all agree that the best gun depends on what you're situation is. CQC? I think HK has the answer to that question. Long range? Barrett makes a nice solution.

I'm not calling you fat, just big boned.

You are not and never have been a Navy Seal.... U R full of sh1t and a poser. Please do not post any more questions on this board.......

You can prove to me that you are not by answering a few questions....

How much does an M-60 weigh and how much does a 1000 rds of M-60 ammo weigh and post this back quick so I don't think you have taken time to look the answers up on the net....

M4A1 SOPMOD rifle. Lots of options for the rails. I prefer an ACOG 4x scope and m203 grenade launcher. A bipod would be nice as well, but it uses the same rail as the thumper and isn't very useful in close quarters. An equal amount of 5.56 ammo isn't as heavy as 7.62 (AK round), has excellent range and penetration ability.

It depends on conditions. If you have to lug it any distance it gets heavy, believe me, I've carried one. Plus ammo and maybe an extra barrel? If you are on patrol and the enemy plans a ambush they aim for you first.
