If you're asking about a NEW one, it is not even available with an automatic!!!
On a vintage Shelby, I would go manual. if I could find one!

If your buying a Shelby Mustang, you should get a manual. I wasn't even aware they sold them with automatics. A manual is the proper transmission for such a car.

I'm assuming you're asking because you don't know how to drive a manual. If that is the case and you do get the car with a manual, get an inexpensive car, like and old 5-speed escort, and learn on that. It would be awful to learn on something with that much power, you would break something, and it could be really dangerous. If you shifted into 1st from 4th on the highway at 80mph by accident, your engine would be toast, and you might lose control of the car.

That said, driving a stick is way more fun than an automatic, unless you sit in really heavy traffic, and if it were me, I'd get the manual. Just learn on something else

If you are talking about older Mustangs, you have a choice, but with the new SVT Cobras and Shelby's I think they only come with a 6 speed manual. Personally, I'll take a manual any day over automatic, but the arthritis in my left foot screams "automatic"!

i would always prefer an automatic for a muscle car like a mustang, i believe manuals should be for the newer age of vehicles such as bmw's or something new and sporty. However Automatics are more expensive of course and i do think that learning to drive a manual would be a great learning experience for everyone.

If it is a Shelby, the choice is a manual. The stick shifts normally bring in more money at auction and private sale.

When I was looking for my Mustang, my only criteria was that it had to be a 4-speed.

I would totally go for a manual transmission, they have more power and are way more fun to drive. A Mustang isn't a Mustang if it has an automatic transmission.

Manual. If you're buying a sports car why get an automatice if you can find a manual. You drive a manual, an automatic drives you.

Depends on what you prefer and what you plan on doing with it. If you plan on racing it then manual for road racing and automatic for drag. Personally I would want the manual-they are more fun.
