How many NGOs that do health/medical work in the developing world are there?

I know that coming up with an exact number is impossible, but a ballpark estimate (from an index, inventory of organizations...) would be very useful!

I believe even coming up with a ballpark figure would be next to impossible, but it would also depend on whether you were inquiring about national or international. Internationally there are about 40,000 and nationally there are approximately 2 million. I've included the Wikipedia link below to give you a better idea.
