Relaxxx :) You seem overly stressed about this. A guy wants to ask you out? Don't even sweat it. If he does, wonderful; maybe he's a great guy to get to know. If he doesn't? Well then damn, that's too bad for him, I'm sure there are plenty of other men waiting for you. You shouldn't feel foolish about it at all. Just try to keep your cool and er...try to pretend that everything is normal (which I'm sure it isn't in your mind). Good luck, I hope that helps a little bit. And I hope he does ask you for that drink
By the way, are you British? Because when I was reading your question, I read it in my head with a British accent :) It was probably your choice of words.

Take it easy girl.
The first step to think about is that it's only a drink, you're still going to have the same friendly and jokey conversation, but maybe in a more social environment.
At least you know what to expect, you're shy, so if he was to ask, think what you would say, and you're prepared.
If he doesn't ask then maybe he's shy himself.
He might not come across that way, but thats the idea most guys would like persue themselves.
I understand that you have just come out of a relationship, but do remember this is only a drink, he isn't asking you to marry him.
In all respect, i think you'll find it a lot easier once you're there, it's one of those "what if he doesn't like me" moments, then realise all the worry is for nothing.

Act as before! (You knew) Be natural!
If he does not ask you to go out with him, say to him that your mum told you what he said to her and that you think that going out is a good idea!
and then agree and arrange when (the where not so important)! like when being after he finishes work (on that day, [shows you interested] or another day that suits better, but you have to wait and life's too short, don't worry)
Hope all goes well but don't make it the be all and end if you know what i mean by that? Be cool!
Best wishes to you!

If you don't go he'll assume your mum told you and you're avoiding him.
Just go along and be yourself, if he does ask then see how you feel, you could always try explaining to him that you're recently out of a relationship, he might understand why you're a bit shy.

Dont be shy around him. Just be yourself, he'll like you for who you are so don't go pretending to be someone you're not.
So you like him? Im guessing he quite likes you if he asks if you want to go out for a drink.
So yeah, be yourself and there should be nothing wrong
Good luck

If I were you I would walk up to him and say...
"My Mum couldn't answer for me, but if you ask me I might just say yes"
