Based on your description: the right side of the body has been partially paralyzed resulting from a stroke that caused some damage in the left hemisphere of the brain.

hemisparesis = paralysis of half of the body. right hemisparesis = paralysis of the right half. Your left CVA is a major supplier of blood to the left side of the brain, so damage to the left side means right sided affectedness.

When the left side of the brain is damaged the right side will be affected, and visa versa.
