I have been having pain in my right rib area for about a month now and cannot figure out what it is or how to make it go away. I have had a few other symptoms such as stomach pains, nausea, diarhea, and lack of appetite but the main issue is the pain. Most of the pain is flank pain on my right side but sometimes is felt up in shoulder and chest all on right side. Have been to the dr. a couple times but blood, urine, and ct scan all showed nothing... Please help.

Most of the pain on our front side comes from our back side - I use a chiropractor and massage therapist.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

If your on vicodin, I'm a "Firm Believer" that the tylenol in it , can cause hebititus.... I had a friend who never did hard drugs in her life, but she was on vicodin, and the like with tylenol in it for years because of a back injury...married to the same husband for 20 years or more., and just a Straight laced girl.. Well she went to the doctor and they said she had hebititus, and she couldn't figure out for the llife of her how she gotten it... Well, than she began to think about the medication's she's been taking over the years, and how she'd switched to different types, but all of them had tylenol in them, even though she'd switch, every once in a "Blue-Moon" right.. Well, she complained about her right side hurting her all the time, and eventually she had to go to the Arthritis doctor, and he had some blood work done on her, just to rule out hebititus because he had alot of patient's complaining about pain on their right-side alot, until he would regularly test his patient's for hebititus, and sure enough she had it!! And had to get on Pegasis, for it, and she had all the symptoms, your talking about too.. So, if I were you, I'd have them check you for hebititus, because its more "Common" than you would ever think, it would be! Trust me on this one!!! Just a thought anyway's.. I hope for your sake you dont have it, but they have so many new vitamin's on the market to get rid of it , that I wouldn't get too worried, in case you have it.. In fact, she takes Milk Thistle, with Dandelion Root, and Yellow Dock, to take the place of the Drugs the doctor's had her on, because they made her so weak.. And these vitamin's are liver-Restorer's, so just know if that's what's wrong with you, that there are things you can take, to get your liver back into shape again.. Unlike the old days.. You take Care, now for us here on Yahoo.. Hope you get to feeling better really soon, hun! Smile!!!

Sounds like air trapped, get some pepcid complete and do side
stretches to rid body of air. Eat an apple to clear ya out.
Then it could be a pulled muscle, put a magnet on it, or get ice bottle or heat bottle for 20 mn.

Vicodin can cause nausea so be aware of that. It can also cause many of the symptoms that you are experiencing. Have you been evaluated for gallstones. If not, then you might suggest to your doctor that he/she order a gallbladder ultrasound. Good Luck.
