Call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040, they can provide you with transcripts of your W2and 1099 information and have it mailed to you in 7 to 10 days, or by fax if you have access to a fax machine. If you need an actual photo copy you would need to complete form 4506 and send that along with a check for 39.00 to the service center where you filed, it will take 60 days to process your request

If they think you didn't file and you know that you did, and you have a copy of the return, you could send a copy to them - be sure to keep a copy for yourself.
If you need to get your W-2s and 1099s, the IRS is probably the most likely place for you to be able to get them.

If you can't get copies from your employer(s), you can request them from the IRS using Form 4506-T. Their is no charge for a transcript and is takes about 2 weeks to arrive by mail. I believe you must submit one 4506-T for you W-2s and a separate 4506-T for your 1099s.

Check with your employer and see if they kept a record of it. You're suppose to keep record of it yourself, but 2001 is quite a long time ago.
