That fricking fight was F'ed up. Tyson WON that fight! Doubt me? The proof is in the source area below. Watch at :12 seconds of this video. When you are DOWN it is for 10 G-damn seconds!!! You count for yourself. Douglas is down, no "saved by the bell" rule in place. I hear some jerk offs say Tyson didn't back off fast enough. F' that, look at it for yourself and YOU decide for yourself. All these people who talk BS about Tyson LOVED him 10 years ago. Most people want to say they agree with the general public. But those people are cowards who call Tyson a coward. They can talk trash about Tyson, but I bet ANY of Tyson's opponents can beat ANY nerd here that is talking trash. You are ALWAYS safe behind your computer when you live like a sissy. I hope I get the 10 for that, I am passionate in my opinion.

Of course before the fight, Tyson had beat everybody he fought with ease and was expected to do the same against Douglas who had a pretty admirable record of something like 30-3 before that fight so he wasn't a journeyman fighter by no means. Douglas lost his Mother and dedicated that fight to her and was very determined to beat Mike. During the fight he didn't run and instead took the fight to Mike and used his boxing ability very well that night. He was clearly the better man that night as he constantly beat Mike to the punch, something Mike was not ready to handle which is adversity in the ring. When Douglas landed the knockout punch on Tyson that night, it was a normal count and not fast at all. Even if he would have made it before the count, he was going to get knocked out that night to Douglas. Buster was very impressive that night and fought the fight of his life against the supposedly invincible Tyson. Good question sir!

Tyson did beat the 10 count. But he was in no condition to continue. He asked his corner after the fight "what happened?" He didn't know he was knocked out. Douglas did get a long count, he was down for 14 seconds real time. But Tyson got the same long count, and he was down 15 seconds real time. But it's not the fighter's job to keep track of time in his head. When a ref says "9", he has to be up. The ref said 9, Douglas got up and was ok to continue. When Tyson got up, he was dazed. No fix, but the ref was sloppy, as most of them are. But it was Buster's jab and combinations that did Tyson in. That, and Tyson's natural cowardice that came through once he realized Buster wasn't afraid.

This may come as a shock to you Tyson fans, and it is most likely a shock to Mike as well, but between Cus and Jimmy Jacobs the first 25 fights Iron Mike won were fixed. The first real fight Mike had was in Tokyo. Sorry to shatter your illusions, but Mike Tyson was a thug and at best a clulb fighter. The people behind the scenes had the juice to fix his career. Bill Clayton was just a money man, never a boxing man. Once the real power behind Mike passed, Don King sunk the fangs into Mike and the rest is history.

No, the ref didn't count fast. And Tyson didn't even know where he was at the end, so it wouldn't have mattered.
Fixed? Think about it. If you were going to fix a fight, you'd do it to make the most money. Tyson was clearly the big draw of boxing at that time. His loss cost himself and promoters millions upon millions of dollars. If you were going to fix that fight, you'd have Tyson win so that he could go on and have big money fights down the road. Besides, considering the amount of money Tyson was making back then, you couldn't have paid him enough to lose a fight on purpose.

The ref counted to slow when douglas was knocked down. The fight should have been over right there. Never should have went any further. All the other stuff shpuld have never happened and Tyson would have been the winner.

This is one of the most idiotic questions ever posted on this forum.
Douglas beat the sh*t out of a woefully underprepared, overconfident Tyson.
Fixed? So you're telling me that Tyson took that beating for ten rounds before he finally decided to take a dive?
*additional*
Ric - please, wake up and smell the coffee. I watched the video, Douglas gets up at 9. It doesn't matter how much time elapsed in real time, what matters is the ref's count.
When Douglas heard the count 'nine', he picked his a*s up off the canvas, unlike Tyson, who was still groping for his mouthpiece at 'nine'.
Tyson got the sh*t beaten out of him by a bigger man that was unafraid.

No, it was not fixed nor was Tyson robbed. Douglas exposed him as a bully who couldn't deal with an opponent unafraid of the Tyson mystique.

not fixed. tyson got up before 10, but you have to be up and alert and ready to fight, which he wasn't, so ref declared it over. douglass was lucky in that he got knocked down at end of the round.
