Christians believe that there is no power to have sins forgiven in the sacrifice of any animal. We believe that the sacrifice of Christ is the true sacrifice. Not one drop of the blood of any animal made any difference at all, not ever. It was all a foreshadowing of the blood of Jesus.... Jim

When asking a question it is best you know your subject matter. Read the Bible all the way through. Since you haven't, I will attempt to answer your question:
In the Old Testament (Testament translated means "Promise"), God asked his people, the Jews, to sacrifice the blood of certain animals as a means to forgive them for their sins. This was way before PETA or any other animal rights were around, and people ate to stay alive. When the New Testament came about, or God's new Promise, Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice on a cross. His blood was the end to blood sacrifices. That is it in a nutshell.

If I were to take your train of thought and turn it around I could ask something like this:
"Being that ignorant people make generalizations about Christians, spouting out some rediculous idea that they have no real understanding of, do you think that influences the way Christians think about them?"
Christians don't agree with animal sacrifices. The Jewish people sacrificed animals in the Old Testament, as did every other religion of the time. The Jews did it as a type of the ultimate sacrifice that would take place when Jesus would die on the cross.
Christians have no history of animal sacrifice. However the Druids did, but they are also very strong supporters of the environment, and have what some would call a "green" agenda.
When I see questions like yours I immediately know your asking out of ignorance... and ignorance isn't a bad thing in and of itselt, it simply becomes a bad thing when you use it to attack what you are ignorant about.

We do NOT do animal sacrifice we love the animals of the earth as God saw fit to give us dominion over them. Environment and ecological issues are a common ground.

you've really got it mixed up Cloe. The Old Testament did have animal sacrifice for the Jews to atone for sin because Jesus had not yet lived. Blood sacrifice is neccesary for sin to be purged. After Jesus there was no need for animal sacrifice. Have you seen any Baptist, Methodist or Catholic people slicing up lambs? I think not. Not for 2000 years.

This reminds me of a story, you see, there was this guy named Cain, and he grew vegetables, let's just call him a vegan. And there was this other guy, Able, who happened to be Cain's brother. Able raised sheep, and Able loved God. God was pleased with Able, but He warned Cain that sin was crouched and waiting for him. Cain got mad at Able- the story doesn't say it, but perhaps because he mistakenly thought that Able was into animal sacrifice? And Cain killed his brother Able.
Now Cloe, since Vegans and Vegetable eaters always kill their brothers who raise sheep, do you think that influences the way you think of shepherds, or the way you see God?
Can you even see with such a big set of misconception eyeglasses on?

The Bible specifically states that we are not to kill animals for sport.
Jesus Christ died for our sins and He became the sacrificial Lamb. So, no we simply pray to Him, not sacrifice animals.

It was the Jews who believed in animal sacrifice. Christ ended animal sacrifices by offering Himself. So what "Christians" do you know who practice animal sacrifice? You should report them to the authorities.
