I've just had to teach my son this because he was having trouble loosing everything.
His school has A days and B days where their classes are split - 4 different classes each day.
I bought him 2 large binders and we set his up where he has 4 notebooks, a folder divider dividing eachto keep his homework papers and a pouch in the front to keep pens and stuff in.
It's working great for him.

Try to put paper work in different folders or different dividers. What I like to do is put papers without holes in the pocket of my binder, or in a separate folder.
