So sorry Kimberly. I know the feeling I had to give away the best cat I have ever had because he was here last and my other two did nothing but beat him up. It was a very difficult decision for me to make however, he had been living at my job (@a kennel) for 4 months. I found someone that I know from my old job that was looking for a cat and he now has a great home where there are no other cats to beat him up and he has another dog as a friend. The only thing I can really say is that sometimes we must put our own feelings aside and truly do what is the right thing for our furry friends, it hurts yes, but in the long run our pets will be happy. God Bless and hugs to you.

Four years ago I had to put my dog to sleep. He was only 6 years old but during those 6 years we were always together. He was my heart. I took him with me everywhere and would even hire someone to watch him at the house if I had to go somewhere he couldnt and only because I didnt want him to be left outside in the cold. He was a king Doberman so it wasnt like he couldnt take care of himself. I just loved him that much. He ended up getting really sick from his heart and it was to late to do anything for him although I did still try but he got worse and one day couldnt get up and I was forced to have the vet come and put him to sleep. It was the hardest thing in my life I ever had to do. After he was gone I would look around the house and it would just seem so empty. My kids are grown and my husband works nights so my dog was the only company I had at the house. I tried hard not to cry about loosing him but everytime I thought about him which was all the time I would cry. My husband ended up getting me another dog , the same kind but nothing like the one I just lost. I still miss him and it has been 4 years already and now have 3 dogs. But they still just cant fill that spot that my other dog had. It is hard to loose a close friend like that. I never had a pet that I loved so much. he was just special. You being young even though I know you must miss your dog very much lets face it you have alot of things to do and will have more things to do as you get older which would make less and less time you could be able to spend with your dog. SOmetimes even though they are painful and hard to understand happen and in the long run we find out they were for the best. If the people that now have your dog are not that far away maybe you could go and visit your dog every now and then. I wouldnt worry about him or her being taken care of because for someone to have adopted a dog not a puppy means that they really wanted a dog and wont get tired of it like alot of people do when they get a puppy and grows up and isnt as cute anymore. So I am very sure your friend will be very well taken care of . If you cant go and visit then maybe you could use your love for dogs and help out at the local animal shelter. Its hard I know and you must miss your dog very much and nothing anyone can say can really make it feel any better. ALl I can say is try and keep busy. Try not to be mad at your mom and granny since I am sure they must of had a reason why. Being a kid its hard to understand sometimes why adults do things but they dont do them trying to be mean. THere is usually a really good reason why and they probably hated having to give her or him up just as much as you did and just arent showing it. Feel better and I am sure the new owners wont mind if you called to check on her or him every now and then.

Check up on her-find out who owns her now, ask if you can visit her, and such. You might want to get a small pet to occupy your thoughts, like a hamster or something. Im sure you'll miss Katie for awhile, and I can understand losing a friend like that. My old dog Whitney got sent to my grandparents farm, but now a stranger owns the farm, and WHitney too. The besty thing would be to get another dog. If you cant, volunteer at a pet store or a dog breeder's place, so u can spend lots of time around dogs.

do you know the people she went to?
perhaps they will let you visit.

if not put up pictures of her around your room, that way you can see her every day even if you cant touch her.
the only thing that will help heal your heart is time though.
