Hello I run a business over the internet.I have a partner who does all my ordering. He is here in Michigan as well.I get orders over the web, from other states. He orders the stuff (Lighted Palm trees)and I send the stuff out of state to my clients.Should I be getting charged sales tax(Michigan 6%) since my products are ultimately going out of state and it is handled through the web? I cannot charge sales tax on items I sell through Ebay that go out of state.
Also should I be charging sales tax? I am confused any help would be great.Thanks.

if you are a registered wholesaler/reseller, you don't pay sales tax. the end user pays the tax.

if you are buying the product retail (like a regular person that just orders a lot) then you have to pay the sales tax because you are considered the end user even though you are going to turn around and sell it.

and many states require that items being shipped to an address there, be assessed the appropriate tax. (i.e. if you're shipping to someone in NY, they are supposed to pay NY sales tax on it)

Neither, the question is "Should you COLLECT sales tax". ONLY the state CHARGES sales tax. That said, you should not be required to collect sales tax on items shipped out of state. And you CAN collect tax on E-Bay sales. I know because I have PAID sales tax on items purchased though E-Bay.
