I believe that once you've become a Nextel driver you shouldn't be aloud to drop to Busch. That just isn't right, to me Busch is for drivers trying to make it to the Nextel. It's like having the NFL drop down to play a Saturday night game with his college team. Just don't make much sense.

I say there should be a limit of no more than 12 Nextel Cup drivers racing in each Busch Series event. As for running the entire Busch Series and Nextel Cup Series seasons together, if you were a rookie in Nextel Cup you'd want a little more experience and run both series the same season. That is okay with me. What was not okay with me was Harvick ruining the 2006 season by running the entire season and winning the championship.
There is an idea I once heard that I thought was the best solution ever. If a Nextel Cup driver wants to run the Busch Series race, NASCAR can say "Okay, you can run the Busch race. However, that means you CANNOT take part in Nextel Cup Happy Hour practice." I think BP brought that idea up once back in the mid or late 1990s when there was a similar situation of a lot of Winston Cup drivers running in the Busch Series races.

Having Cup drivers racing on the Busch Series is good for all involved. It raises the amount of exposure on the series, often gives Cup drivers a chance to "practice" at a track before the cup race, and allows the up-and-comers who are actually good enough to qualify a chance to run with the big boys.
There are still opportunities for young drivers to gain experience and move through the ranks, such as the Whelen Modified series, Craftsmen Truck Series, and ARCA.
But if you're stuck on imposing a limit, how about this idea. Instead of limiting the number of Cup drivers in each race, there could be limits on how many Busch races a Cup driver can compete in each year. I don't think it's good for the Busch Series if a Cup driver can come in and run away with the championship by several hundred points, as was the case last year.

For me, I would think that the only nextel drivers that should be allowed to drive in the busch series are the nextel rookies. They are the ones who need the extra experience, and at that point, they probably aren't so good that they would dominate.
Unfortunately, the reason why they don't do that is because it's the big name drivers that raise the TV ratings for the busch races.

I think they should have to pick one race a weekend. If you want to run in just the busch race or just the nextel cup race. It is unfair to the small market teams because the nextel cup drivers who also race busch drive for larger market teams. And since they win and place higher the majority of the money goes to those teams and the smaller teams are left with less. Also even though busch and nextel cars have subtle differences, by racing in the busch race you can get a feel for what set-ups are working the best for your car, and also have a better idea on things such as tire wear, and fuel mileage. IMO it is almost like cheating. I think this is something NASCAR needs to address but unfortunately i dont think they will. Obviously having the "bigger name" drivers in the busch series will increase popularity, tv ratings and tv coverage and seeing how nascar just signed the entire busch series coverage to ESPN they will want to keep those ratings high as possible. Unfortunate that money and ratings are changing the integrity of the sport, but it is a business.

I think limiting Cup drivers in the Busch series is a bad idea. Having the big boys there will really push the Busch guys to learn quicker.
I think that the Nextel guys can race, but not for points or the championship. They can still get experience for their race, but they wouldn't be able to take the Busch trophy. Isn't it almost like having a NFL player play on college teams? You don't see that happening. If a sponsor wants to pay big money for exposure of a big name driving their car, more power to them.

I think it makes the drivers who do atually drive against all the Nextel Cup drivers driving in the Busch Series race a better understanding of what they'll have to deal with at the next level. In essence, it makes them better. Sure, it takes away from some drivers, but there are plenty of other NASCAR classifications for a driver to climb through the ranks.

I think they should limit the Cup drivers to only being able to race in around 5-8 Busch series races during the season. The Busch series is for upcoming drivers...not Cup "veterans" to run and have fun and destroy the series.
I understand that having Cup series drivers run the Busch races brings in viewers and sponsors BUT...the Cup drivers have made a mockery of the Busch series. How are the Busch series drivers supposed to get airtime when drivers such as Kevin Harvick, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Dale Jr have taken over. And I'm a fan of Dale Jr, Mark and Tony!
Enough is enough. Last season should have been a wakeup call to Nascar that they need to make changes to the Busch series. Only one Busch series regular, Paul Menard, won a race...the rest where won by Cup drivers. That is not fair.
I watch the Busch series races to see the upcoming drivers...not Cup veterans.

no dont limit them it keeps the busch series popular to see the cup drivers out there just dont count the points for the cup drivers so they cant win the championship and the busch regulars can win the title and get recognition, i would be afraid if cup regulars did not race alot people may lose interest in the series and like last year after gilliland an unknown driver beat the regulars at kentucky to get a win he quickly got a full time cup ride so them racin in busch can help the younger drivers get recognized if they do well

Well if you can't make it on the track with 10 or 12 of the Nextel Cup boys then how the hell are you going to make it with 38 of them. Moving up in the sport is about weather or not you can hang. If all you are going to do is cry because there is someone better than you on the track or has more experience you need to move to something else all together, because there will always be someone better, faster, and driving harder. No matter what series you are in.
