about your religion? even if it makes it look silly or points out flaws in its core values? or do you see it as constructive criticism and usefull for keeping you grounded? or do you not care? can you laugh along, can you look at yourself and say,'yes it is silly' but its what I believe?

Sure can. In fact, I tell Catholic jokes 'cause nobody tells 'em like we do! :-)

For example:

The crowd was in an ugly mood, and the woman caught in adultery huddled in terror at Jesus' feet. One of the Pharisees smiled sardonically at Christ, absolutely confident that he was about to trap the blasphemer once and for all.

"So, Lord," he sneered at Jesus, "this woman has been caught with a man other than her husband. The Law says we should stone her to death, but what do you say?"

Jesus looked around the crowd and shook His head. "Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone."

Slowly, the crowd and the Pharisee started to back away because they knew they'd been defeated.

All of a sudden, a rock hurtled toward the woman and smacked her in the head, knocking her out cold. Jesus raised His head and glared at the stunned people, wondering who would dare to do such a thing.

Then He shrugged His shoulders and groaned, "Awww, MOM!"

i pretty much don't get offended about anything. also, i can't look at my beliefs and say "yes, that's silly, but that's what i believe" because my beliefs aren't silly. if i found my beliefs silly, i prolly wouldn't be believing them. if i found my beliefs silly, then a small percentage of me would probably question those beliefs, which means i am not a total believer in those beliefs. so it wouldn't insult me if someone pointed out flaws. i'd laugh at them either silently or aloud.

We don't find flaws within Buddhism... not REALLY, but we do understand people misinterpret and we joke amongst ourselves about various things... even His Holiness the Dalai Lama made a joke about the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" when someone asked him about "money", with a little witticism about saying the mantra really fast sounding like "money money money" (a play on the word "mani").

We're quite secure in our understanding of reality.

I could say "yes, it's silly to you but it's what I believe". I can take jokes about my religion because I know how ironic religion can be. And irony is amusing.

It depends on the delivery of the joke. If it is a friendly "jab", sure I can take it. But if someone is deliberately trying to hurt or upset me, it can be hard to take. If the aim of the joke is to mock Christ, then it gets me upset regardless.
