Because if they weren't all on the same side of the table we'd have to peek between the head's of the disciples(sp) to see what was going on. Also from an artistic standpoint it's easier to paint and convey a thought...ever watch tv? Look how often especially on old sitcoms on TVLAND that they are all sitting either on the same side of the table or a semi circle at best. It's just more visually appealling and easier to do.

It was just a painting. In the real event, I doubt that there even was a table.

lol that was just mic's painting. they actually ate it in a circle on the floor. they had no table ,chairs etc.
