Wicca is a religion that is based on the general principle that we are all from the Earth and will go back to the Earth. It is a peaceful religion, and not "demonic" as some would have you think. You don't "sin" and there isn't an invisible man in the sky to punish you for living.

You can be who you want to be, which is why it is growing in popularity lately. The downside that I see, as with pretty much any religion, is that at some point you must believe something odd just on faith alone. With Wicca, it's magick; with Buddhism, it's the idea that some dead guy achieved enlightenment; and with Christianity it's that an invisible man made everything.

I have Wiccan relatives, and they are wonderful people that I love dearly. I like the basic principles of Wicca, I just choose not to follow it. If you are curious, look into it more online or find a book on it at a bookstore.

It is a set of spiritual beliefs, but lacks the sacred writings and disciplines of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and other faiths.

Wicca is an attempt to recreate the "Old Religions" of the Celts and other Western Europeans. While some adherents believe Wicca and other Pagan religions ARE the ancient religions that have survived, this isn't generally believed by religious scholars.

I'm sure the other answers will give you more info on actual belief and practices, but the best sources are books (available in every book store, and in libraries) and in Religion websites, such as Beliefnet.com
