because they have none.
...and this way, it keeps their minds occupied so they haven't got to contemplate the reality that "there is a God..."
(sort of like a way to keep theirselves pre-occupied is my guess.)

I dislike generalized questions such as this. It's not fair to paint all atheists with the same brush. Atheism is not a religion or faith; the only thing most atheists have in common is their belief that there is no God. Some atheists like to poke fun at other religions, just like some people feel the need to be racist, sexist, squash bugs for the heck of it, or yell at a waiter just for fun. Other atheists are tired of being insulted by some Christians, and feel the need to present their opinions. And some Christians are so sensitive to criticism that they take a friendly discussion as "insulting". You'd have to ask the specific atheist why they insulted your religion to find out for sure.

Because the religious try to pity the Atheists. That is their mistake; if someone pities another because they believe the other is lost, the other is not going to be very happy about it. It's like an insult, and frankly, the religious are doing it often.

Not all do. The ones that do are just inconsiderate of other people's feelings and beliefs. They think they're better than people with a religion. But NOT ALL ATHEISTS DO THAT.

I think a lot of it is a response to being told they are immoral humans that are going to hell for not believing in God. It gets old after a while, although I don't agree with retaliatory remarks that degrade religion in general.

We dont. we have oppions just like religious people have about us. We dont insult them we say our believes. Maybe we find it insulting how religious people believe and someone whose exsistence cant be proven and getting angry with us becuase we prefer to think more scientifically.

Well lets put it like this. Christianity says that if you don't get Jesus Christ as your saviour you will go to hell. Which means you think the rest of the world is going to hell. Yeah and we aren't supposed ot make fun of that?

They're trying to convince themselves that they're right, others think that's the best way to unconvert believers, by being rude and judgmental....I could have sworn that's what they accuse the Christians of doing.
"Why do Christians do the same thing?"
"Wait a minute..why do we do the same thing as the Christians?"
