"What is this"flat" you speak of?
Almost four years later, and I'm still waiting for "flat".
As far as stretch marks fading, it can take awhile. But they never go away completely. I have made myself accept them, and see them as my battle scars. I am a tougher b**** for having earned them.

I gave birth to my first son 16 months ago, I lost all of my pregnancy weight (nearly 70 pounds) by 4 months and at 9 months I lost 10 more pounds. At 9 months, I looked skinny, my stomach wasn't hanging, it wasn't big either and. Although I weight less than I did before pregnancy it wasn't flat (it was flat when I was 10 pounds heavier before getting pregnant). I did the South Beach diet to loose the weight and it came off of my stomach first thing. I also exercised, I wasn't devoted to exercise but I did it whenever I'm not tired. I think you should do a low carb diet for a while and fat will come off mostly from your midsection.
I also breast fed and wore a tight body shaper 4 days after giving birth.
I also have stretch marks and they are still dark even though its been 16 months I hate them so much. I miss my old stomach. In fact I just logged in to yahoo answers to ask about stretch marks.

You lose weight after baby the same way anyone loses weight - eating a healthy diet and watching your portion size, and exercise. I started back at the gym as soon as I had the doctor's okay (8 weeks). I did it as much to guarantee my teeth were brushed and I had a shower by 11am, as I did to get back into shape. (it is so nice to have someone else watch baby for a couple of hours so you can work out and talk to adults!). I watched my portions. I have always been a nutrition freak so I always eat lots of vegetables and drink lots of water. If you're still nursing, you need to be careful not to get too restrictive on your calories or you can hurt your milk supply. If you're not nursing you can either eat right or pick the diet of your choosing. I lost all the weight after each of my 3 kids and I gained around 70lbs each! (and I was a tiny woman - under 110lbs). It did take a while, but I did it within 9 months with each pregnancy. My waist and abdomen are not good as new. I got hit with badly stretched out skin and faschia. Only surgery will fix that. I guess that 70lb weight gain held consequences I didn't expect. Oh..and what DDL proposes makes absolutely no sense and is not nutritionally sound. You don't need to starve (which is actually counterproductive) or over-exercise to lose weight and if you did that, you'd rebound faster than a yoyo.

I gave birth to my son in september...its amazing how small i got back quickly. As far as your stomach getting flat...i worked out 3 times a week doing stomach exercises...and running..if you stay consistent with it you should see results in a month or 2. Stretch marks will fade gradually...i like to use Lubriderms skin renewal...i like it...and you should too. But yeah the only advice i can give is to exercise, and eat right. PUT THAT CANDY DOWN LOL. But yeah 3 times a week for 5 minutes straight concentrating on abs should do the trick.

When I had my second child, I lost half of the baby weight within the three days I was in the hospital. Within the next week, I lost the rest of the weight. However, there was like a "pooch" still there. When I got home from the hospital, I immediately started wearing a girdle-well it wasn't actually a girdle, it was called a "body shaper". I had worn it under a bridesmaid dress previously. The body shaper helped me tighten my stomach muscles (nursing my daughter definitely helped too!) and I got rid of the "pooch" within two weeks!
My best friend didn't wear the body shaper (like I told her too!) and now she is STILL carrying a "pooch" as well, despite taking Pilates classes and walking, etc. She had her child almost two years ago!
You need to be doing sit ups, push ups, drink water and walk-some form of exercise that is going to help strengthen those stomach muscles. From my experience, it depends on the location of the stretch marks in regards to when they will fade. Also, if you use certain types of oils and creams they tend to help them lighten up if not fade totally.

some women never get a flat stomach again or loose the marks.
but if you want a flat stomach exercise get yourself in shape don't be naive to think it will magically just happen
oh and a few lucky women are almost back to original when the leave the hospital. Depends a lot on how much you gained and allowed yourself to get out of shape during pregnancy.....Lets

As long as it takes you to get motivated to work those muscles. Only exercise will bring it back to pre-pregnancy size. Stretch marks vary, try Cocoa butter, I hear that works.
