As far as viewing pornography I agree with the order prohibiting it. Also, letting the soldiers engage in sex...with non Muslims...will only cause problems, good order and disciple. As for drinking alcohol I agree 100% that it should be prohibited. While the probability is low the last thing you want is a drunk soldier or platoon if their is an attack on their location. And primarily drunks tend to get into fights and that also causes problems regarding good order.....
And a NOTE to I'M JOINING THE AIR FORCE: You absolutely 100% wrong regarding your comment that troops in Iraq always drink in the base. Evidently you are haven't heard of General Order #1 which among other things prohibits the possession and consumption of alcohol by military members. It also prohibits booze on ALL military bases so even civilians are restricted from drinking. The only time alcohol was allowe during my 18 months in Iraq was on Super Bowl Sunday. And then it was regulated to just 2 cans of beer (Bud) served in the chow hall and it couldn't be taken out of the DFAC. And yes...there are ways for the troops to obtain booze against regulations but the punishment if caught is very sever.
So Mr. Joining the AF....get your4 acts straight so you don't stir up random lies because of YOUR ignorance.

When I was active duty in Kuwait, we couldn't drink alcohol like the Iraqi, but at least i didn't have to wear the Berka off post, LOL. Or walk two paces behind my PLT SGT. Porno is addicting and most of the women on the sites are sex slaves and forced to go into the business, if they do it by their own free will, they do it because they were sexually abused and are trying to take a man's money and in a sence get their abuser back for the sexual abuse. There was enough booty calls going around on base to fill the soldiers time, so their was no need for porno to take up all the computer time, when other soldiers like myself wanted to write our loved ones at home.

Nope... Sex (fraternization) & Pornography aren't permitted stateside within the barracks, and I believe they have access to what we used to call the short-cruise-beer... 2 beers every 90 days.

As far as the porn, that should not be a big deal. But as far as the sex and alcohol, you are in the Middle East to WORK not have pleasure, even on down time.

They are adults serving our country. Shame on you for questioning how they want to spend their free time. Be thankful they are there and you are not.
I apologize profusely for not reading your question correctly. The base of my answer is correct though. Our service people should be able to spend their free time doing the things you mentioned. It would help to take their minds off, for a short time, of what the next hour/day may bring. Thank you for being there.

The troops are fighting in those countries which consider this type of behavior against their religion. You are there to fight against the terrorists and not to promote American culture with trashy behavior.
