I'm hearing that most Christians get upset at the idea that Jesus had a wife and possibly children. But what is so bad about that? After all he was still a man. Was he not entitled to get married, have kids, etc?

I am catholic, and the only ones that get upset are the ignorant ones that cannot accept the fact that Jesus was a human being, a lot of catholics do not believe he could of been married, I say bull crappy I think he was, and I also believe he rose into heaven but only in spirit not physically just like all of us will one day, there is to much lack of common sense, and logic in the religious world today in my opinion.

There is nothing bad about having a wife and children. The bible does not speak to it and there is a very strong warning not to add to what has been written.

It would be out of character. If Jesus had children he would have to leave them for his ministry at the age of under 12. It would make no sense for Jesus to sacrifice himself to the care of mankind in general while neglecting wife and children specifically.

So, like you, I am not overly upset if he did have a wife and children, but we have no evidence (except for the laughable ossuary from today's documentary) and it would be simply like saying that Jesus slapped the guard that struck him. I suppose he could have but it is just not consistent with anything else we know of him.

Perfectly right. But for most believers he was son of god ,divine and cannot digest the idea of a married man in jesus because it was taught so from time immemorial. They just forget the fact that he was a perfect human being with all passion and needs.
Moreover christianity tries to hide the private life of jesus and his human nature and tried to project him only as a divine person devoid of all earthly character. So the so called christians who has been brought up in tradition almost gets heart attack if such theories are published or filmed.

No he was entitled to live the life of human's. Even if he is half god. The Christian's are just weird and don't understand that he could have had a wife and kids.

Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice for us to become Christians. If He were to have had a wife, and children, I believe the Bible would have mentioned that clearly. It does not. The "code" is someone's imagination, when it comes to Jesus having had a wife etc.

On the face of it you have a very intelligent question. But the answer is complicated. Lets just say that since satan was going to be tempting Christ at every turn having a wife would just make things more complicated in that vein. Also He new he was going to be crucified. Would His wife and child be draged into the violence also? That is another good reason not to have a family. Thanks for your intelligent and non mocking question. MGB

Nothing is bad about it. I hope that he did have a wife and children. The Gospel of Philip calls Mary Magdeline Jesus' companion, which could mean wife. It's documented that they were together. The bible even talks about her traveling with him (Mathew and Mark), and she was the first person to see him when he rose from the dead.

i am a Christian and I find the idea of Jesus having been married immensely comforting...the Bible tells us He has been tested and tempted in every way we have. It makes it easier for me to think He relates to my issues if He experienced them, too. Some people regard marriage as essentially sinful, but that's just their equation of sex and evil.

it would actually have been out of the ordinary for a man the age of 30 to not have a wife and kids
