I am due to Fly out to Tanzania, East Africa next month via KLM. Are their any restrictions imposed on what you can and what you can't take onboard in terms of "Liquid, Gels, Creams, Cologne, Fragances etc" There is no elaboration on the KLM website, could anyone help?

I am not sure where you are flying from. If you are flying from within the EU there will be restrictions on any liquids or gels (including toothpaste) in your hand baggage. You will be able to take a minimal number of essential items through security in a small clear plastic bag, no single item can be in a container of more than 150ML. You might fit 4 such items in such a bag.
After the security check anything you purchase should be OK to take on the plane but ask. All other items must be checked in your main baggage.
It is poor form for KLM not to have any information on their web site, if in any doubt I would call their head ticketing office in the country you live. They may also advise you on the return where liquids may still be allowed, it is all very ambiguous. I have brought liquids from some countries outside the EU where as others do not allow this, possibly so security staff can 'dispose' of your items. I witnessed this recently in Morocco for example.
Good luck, hope this helps a little.

There are restrictions imposed on all airlines. No aerosol, no gels, no liquids. To be safe put all those things in your checked baggage. They cannont be in your carry on

There are similar rules for security restrictions in the Europe and the US. Here's the TSA site for permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

In Europe and the UK the restrictions are slightly different.... metric for one thing, and 100ml bottles (3.4 oz instead of 3 oz in a one liter bag 20 cm x 20 cm (8" x 8") instead of one quart 8" x 7.75"). Even though you're flying KLM you could check the British Airways website for details: http://baa.com/
