i bottle fed and will again. I do not produce breast milk at all, so formula is the only other option for me. I wanted to breastfeed very badly, but found out with the first that it was not possible for me.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had such trouble with breastfeeding. It sounds like you really didn't have a good support network to help you figure out what the problem was. Breastfeeding should never be painful, and can be so rewarding!
I breastfed both of my babies, the first for 11 months (only stopped because she refused me after I became pregnant again), and the second is still nursing after almost 14 months. I hope to make it until my son's second birthday at least, and then let him self-wean when he is ready. But that's just my experience -- I had a lot of support from my husband, my mother, woderful lactation consultants in the hospital, and most of all La Leche League members.

Bottle fed the first, am breastfeeding my youngest.
I wish I had breast fed my oldest, but I was young and took my mom's advice not to. Breastfeeding is great!
I feel so close to my little guy, and so much more happy and relaxed. And I have lost more weight than I gained in pregnancy. Plus, my oldest child has allergies, ear infections, and respiratory problems- and I wonder how much of that I could have prevented.

I only breastfed. It was uncomfortable in the beginning, but bottle-feeding was never an option for me. The first few weeks, I felt like we really bonded, as we both had to help each other learn this new skill. I spent every moment with her, and now that she is on the go, I look back and remember that time with great fondness.
I enjoy breastfeeding my daughter so much, and it is so good for her and myself. She hasn't even had a cold and is the picture of health. She's going on 8 1/2 months now, and I can't wait to do this all again!

I breastfed ours. He's three months now, but I plan on continuing for about another year or so.
I found it to be the best option, since it is best for the baby both in terms of health and their development. Sure it was painful at the beginning, but things do get easier the more you stick it out! I also had some baby blues, which may or may not have been from the breastfeeding.

This may sound strange to some but I bottle fed because I couldnt see putting my breast into my babys mouth . I felt it was disturbing. I know it is natural and since I was 10 I wanted to breast feed because it was natural and better for babies. I just couldnt in my mind get past it. I didnt think that I could pump and then bottle feed. Ignorance. Anyways my daughter was allergic to simalac, and soy so they put her on nutramagin. Once she was big enough for milk she had to drink Lactaid cause she was latose intolerant till she was 4 and sometimes I still wonder since she is always constipated adn has been on prune juice since she was 2 months old. This baby (my boy) I am going to bottle feed too.

My daughter was both. She would not take to the breast and when she did it hurt so bad. And I was using all the right latching position but her suction was just so strong. So I pumped. And I got it to where my body was use to my pumping schedule. Usually in the morning I could get enough to get her threw mid afternoon. Then again at like 3:30 and then at 9:00. Now it took time to get to that point but once I was there it was like mass production......lol. And now they make the bottle that are shaped like the breast so if you do try to breast feed then there is no confusion....So try it...if it works then great but if not then OK at least you tried......good luck:)

My husband favourite that I breastfeed as he has never had to upward thrust up contained in the technique the evening, and we are able to easily flow someplace on a whim quite than having to sterilise, %. bottles etc.

I breastfeed both my children. It was a wonderful experience!!! With my son, it wasn't easy. But I stuck with it and nursed him for over a year. With my daughter I never has any problems. But by that time I was experienced and knew what to correctly do.
If it hurt for you to nurse, the latch or position wasn't correct. LLL or a lactation consultant are wonderful for helping to correct problems. Or the internet is wonderful for finding information.
