The correct way to create an inside corner is to run one side clean into the corner. Next step is to cut the intersecting piece with an inside 45 degree cut and cope out the waste. You will be left with a profile that exactly fits the other piece of moulding. This ensures a tight fitting joint.

It is not recommended that each of two pieces receive an "inside 45 degree" cut. Inside corners are rarely perfect 90 degree angles and you will always have a gap in the joint.

Good luck with your trim project.
