Im 16, and i'll be turning 17 in just a couple months. I look at pictures of me from almost exactly a year ago, and i look atleast 10-15 lbs lighter than i am now...i've been told by my body fat test (even though i know they're not 100% accurate) that im about 10 pounds over weight. The sad part about it is that i haven't even started to realize how much heavier i've become until a few weeks ago. It's started to bring me to tears that i now only have one pair of fitting jeans that bairly fit me as it is...and i no longer look good in a bathing suit. I've gained inches, pounds, and no matter what i've tried to do nothing has happened. I have pretty bad asthma so its hard to be TOO physical...ie running for like an hour like i've heard people say. I just dont get it. It's especially hard when you're in high school and all you see is naturally gorgeous skinny girls. What can i do? Im desperate...

--you have already started on the right track because you realize that you want to fix a "problem". you don't sound to be in too bad of shape. the good news is that you are only talking about 10-15 lbs. that can be done in 2 months very easily.
--the first thing you want to do is cut out sodas, that will drop a little bit of weight. also increase your water intake (remember everything in moderation.... even water in excess can be harmful).
--then take a look at what your diet consists of. the only true way to lose weight is to watch what you eat and to do moderate exercises, you don't have to be arnold schwarzenneger to work out.
--you say "no matter what you do".... but seriously put an effort out there for 2 months straight to cut out the chips, cookies, and sodas. also get a workout video of some sort so you can work out in your room without being embarrassed.
--don't run for an hour, but a brisk walk for 30 minutes 3 times per week can do wonders. when you start to see results, it should motivate you.
--just please, please, please don't crash diet, you will gain a lot of weight back when you stop. try to lose 1/2 to 1 pound per week, 2 pounds per month is a good plan.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

16's a very tough age for people. Just think about this above everything else, it took you a YEAR to gain the weight, don't try and lose it in a week.
Simple plan of attack, remove sugars from your diet. Simple refined sugars such as coca cola, snickers bars, etc... are the quickest root to fat. Your body doesn't have a natural conversion process for them so it's more apt to convert them directly to fat instead of sending them completely through the krebs cycle.
Eat 10 times a day! (I know you probably won't be able to eat 10 times a day but try as hard as you can to eat once every hour). People that say they aren't naturally skinny just haven't adapted their bodies to being that way. There are exceptions for persons genetically prone to fat gain but typically it's a diet and lifestyle reason, not a genetic reason. Granola bars aren't healthy, they have LOTS of sugars but get yourself some peanuts (don't worry about fats, just sugars) if you like tuna, eat 3 cans a day. Diet coke instead of regular.
Again, subtract all the sugars you can and when you work out, hit it with more intensity for shorter durations. People that tend to hold weight, respond better to High Impact training rather than endurance training when looking to shed fat.

did you do something that put the weight on? do you dinrk too much soda or eat a lot of bread or something? or are you on medication for your asthma that makes you gain weight? you could walk for half an hour every day and lose weight. you don't have to do really physical exercise. make sure you eat right, too, and drink lots of water. 10 pounds shouldn't be hard to lose, especially since you're young.

Join a sport that you really like. Most of the time they tell you to follow a diet and you work out a lot doing something you like. You wont be as bored. People that tend to be bored gain a lot of weight. Trust me, you'll see a big difference in a month.

I know how you feel! And I have 3 things that I have done that show good results, and they are the only things I do!
1. Drink Green Tea with honey! Not the one in the bottle, to me, those are like sodas without the carbonation...just compare the ingredients!
2. I have the Ab Lounger and it works great!
3. Yoga! It helps your physical appearance, and makes you feel good mentally too! :D
