It used to be excellent at one time but we went a few years ago and it was a big disappointment. The food was absolutely appalling, we were making sandwiches in the chalet. The place was so rowdy that police were in attendance on the camp on more than one occasion. There were just too many people around and the entertainment was all aimed at very large audiences. If I were you I'd give it a miss.

I`ve been both a holidaymaker and a member of staff at Skegness Butlins - despite the hard work I prefer the latter.
I worked there several years ago and went back a couple of Christmas` ago as a holidaymaker - it had changed dramatically in the intervening years - not entirely in a good way.
Some aspects are better (the Redcoat girls are hotter LOL) whilst others have gotten worse.

Picture the scene.
A fat, beer bellied, run-down council estate man with his heavily tatood wife pulls up outside the van next to yours in their 1976 Vauxhall Cavalier. (no tax, 2 bald tyres and last years insurance docs)
Inside is crammed 8 kids (6 different dads) who have all been smoking since they were in the womb and 2 Rottweilers called Killer and Death.
Both parents will spend the week 24hr drinking, chain smoking and trying to fill with gold the one tiny space they have on their body that isn't filled with either gold chains or cheap soverign rings.
They will not see the kids for a week but YOU WILL as you'll have them sat next to you in Reds throwing up vodka redbulls under table while the eldest (13yrs) gets the next round in.
You'll also see them in the arcades walking around checking all the trays on the machines to see if an odd coin has dropped out, fighting with just about anyone and writing 'DAZ' in marker pen on the side of your van.
The parents will bump into you in the market where they have bought all the kids BB guns (to keep them amused) as your car will find out, and where else can you buy D&G jeans for £3.75?
I hope you enjoy Butlins Skegness, i was unlucky enough to go there for a few times due to the free use of a van and there are some decent people but there are also the low life, benefit fiddling scumbags who are destroying the place i loved as a child.
I have free use of a van again this year, i wont be going back.

There tends to be alot of booze around at Butlins-you see people drinking beer at 10 in the morning. Depends when you go, though.
Im sure you and your mum will have a great time. Enjoy it!
