Surely the religion section should be open to questions and answers from people of all persuasions and not just those who believe in a god.The result otherwise is no debate at all because everyone believes the same thing and then there would be no need for questions to be asked.

Y/A should have a special section titled "Why are atheists in the religion & spirituality section?" because this question has been asked so often.
For the umteenth time, most of us aren't IN the "Religion & Spirituality" section. We're in "All Answers", and sometimes a question from the religion section catches our eye. (Especially if it's addressed to or about atheists specifically. There's certainly enough of them. Christians obsess more about what atheists believe than atheists do.)
The ones that are here on purpose are here because they have just as much a right to be here as anyone else.

Because this category is about the discusion of religion and spirituality. Despite not believing in God, many atheists (such as myself) have a lot to say about Christianity. Remember, the title "Religion and Spirituality" is not a sign saying only Christians can enter. It's about the discussion of all things relating to religion and spirituality, and atheism has a lot of relevance there. Besides, there is no atheism category, so you're stuck with us. If you can't stand up to a little friendly discussion of beliefs, then maybe you need to go back to Bible class :)

We have things to say, oppinions we want heard. And you are discussing thigns that we are interested in. People on here ask about the most difficult times of their lives. They ask whether being gay is a sin. They wonder how God can be All Loving and All Powerful. And they also tell Muslims, Pagans, Agnostics and Buddhists that they are going to burn in hell. So yes we come on here and we give our views, because they are important, and we would like to give a different side, to give the smaller voices a bit more volume.

I am an Atheist, but Atheism is -not- my religion. I think 'laffersand' has it right, to wind up believers. And I denounce fellow Atheists who do that kind of thing as it's as radical a behavior as those they disagree with.

They don't nessassarily need to believe in the devil but you make a good point. Should a group of people without religion, be replying in the religion sections? I think not.

Atheists have the right to answer anywhere including the religion and spirituality category, Atheism, in a way, is a religion.
If you don't like what they have to say give 'em a thumbs down or something.
Also atheists might have questions like what's the difference between agnostic and atheism?

I am not in the Religion section, I am in Society and Culture. I am looking at questions in various categories in that section, religion is just one of them.

Discussions about religion should be two-sided. How boring would this site be if we only had religious points of view.

God and the Devil are only one religion of many false ones. This is not a Christian only forum. (Good thing too, or it would be pretty damned boring). I'm here to answer questions like this one that are directed at me. Does it frighten you to have differing viewpoints offered?
