Check the hz on it. A subwoofer with a low hz frequency like (18-150hz) is used just for bass. a high frequency like (150-20,000hz) is sound and bass

Bass IS sound. A subwoofer, ideally, is setup with a crossover. A crossover takes the audio signal (the music) and separates the high frequencies from the low frequencies. It makes sure that the subwoofer only receives the low signal. If the subwoofer did not have a crossover it would produce a wider range of notes from bass drum all the way up to the person singing. This would sound terrible. Therefore we only want low notes coming from our subwoofers (i.e. Bass)
So the answer to your question is yes and no! It produces "sound" and bass but all we want is the bass!
Hope this helps!

Bass is sound, just at low frequency. Treble would be the high frequencies. Yes a subwoofer is just a large powerful speaker for low frequencies. Speakers are like air pumps in that to reproduce sound they move volumes of air. Smaller speakers moving back and forth quickly make higher frequency sounds. Subwoofers on the other hand have to move large volumes of air in order to make bass. They move back and forth at a slower rate than high frequency speakers. Subwoofers can reproduce other sounds but, due to their large mass sound horrible. Use subs for bass, midbass/midrange speakers for mids, and tweeters for highs to get the clearest sound possible. I hope this helps with your question. If you need more technical than this posting can provide there are books available. Great Sound Stereo Speaker Manual with projects by David Weems is a good one. ISBN 0-8306-3274-3. I'm sure there are other newer books available as I have had this one since 1990. Also subwoofers do not have built in low pass filters. In addition to that they are never rated to 20,000hz.......thats a tweeter.

Bass.

It does not however play music as loud as 6x9s. But if you run just the subs, other then the big boom with an amp, you can almost recognize what song is playing. But it's just for bass. Added bass and power that not even stock woofers can do. Subwoofers just deliver more bass period, with an amplifier, amp wiring kit, power leading to battery, ground hooked to ground, or antenna mount, blue wire, the rm wire? that and the audio cables, the two, run into the cd player. then going out of the amplifier is either 2-4 positive and negative wires leading to the speaker. How many subs/speakers you want. You can hook amps to nice speakers or you can hool it up to just about any amp.

Sounds to me you just want some bass out of a song. Look for kits, that installed and everything for $200-$250. comes with either 2 10" subs, and an underpowered, but still massive bass amp the sub box and wiring kit. Hoefully they screw the amp to a back of the seat or box or something. Infiniti is expensive, but they have an amp/subwoofer hidden product, runs at $260. One 8" and amp. like 6" tal and 10"-10" plastic outer core, This was all off of memory from like 2 years ago... so .

A sub can do anything, true thay are made to produce bass eather high, mid or low bass they can do them all. It depends on the amp u use on them. U can adjust the amp to make it put out all bass, or all high's, or in the middle putting out both high's and low's together. Amp's have a high, mid, and low frequency it's a switch on the amp and u choose witch one u want.

simply put, subs are made for lower end sound. like ur speakers are made for higher end sound. thats y ppl buy subs, cuz speakers simply dont have the bass of a sub. and thats y ppl buy speakers, the subs dont put out the highs and mids like a speaker.

A sub-woofer has a low pass filter built in, this only allows low frequencies to pass. Most low pass filters are in <100Hz range, you can see the frequency range printed on the specification sheet of the speaker in question.

They both make outstanding products. Rockford Fosgate receives extra publicity to the market because they have their extremely "low-priced" line of audio gadget for sale in most suitable Buys and different shops around the rustic so extra people understand who Rockford Fosgate is. although, Fosgate makes a large decision of things contained in the intense end, mid decision, and occasional end. Hertz on the different hand, doesn't extremely screw round with making low end stuff. They stick to the intense end and Mid decision. when I say intense end mid decision and occasional end i'm no longer conversing about speaker frequencies, I advise "element of product high quality." you merely opt for to carry close what you're paying for.
