I do not know of any type of macaws that talk the best. Most of it depends on the age of the bird, how you train it, and how devoted you and the bird will be for training. Macaws normally will use simple words that they hear over and over again I.E. hello, goodbye etc. If you are looking for a bird that does more complex words and has a super large vocabulary, get a Congo Grey- A Congo Grey is the record holder with over 700 words.
As for macaws and the 20 plus macaws my parents and me own I would have to say Blue and Gold Macaw would be your best bet. They are well mannered if you get one as a baby. We are not professional trainers for making birds talk, but we do leave the radio or tv on when we are gone, use a tape recorder the repeatedly use a word over and over, even simple actions like answering a phone will get a bird to talk. It's weird when our phone rings and we have 5 birds saying hello.

Sam H doesn't know what he's talking about and Kim is right on. Do the research. Being a parrot owner is a serious responcibility, one not to be taken lightly. Having a parrot is not like having a dog or cat, it is a LIFE-TIME commitment and they live a Very long life, some 60-80 years or better.

I have not heard any macaws speak well. They do scream really well though. if i were looking for a bird that speaks well i'd opt for an amazon or african gray.
