I am a mother of 2 and a part time model. I am 5'10, 130 lbs. I am a sz 6, slim figured w/ definate curves (chest hips butt). I am competing w/ sz 2s+4s w/ no hips or butts and MAYBE speedbumps or mesquito bites for breasts. When i audition by myself, clients love me and think I'm perfect but when I am required to audition in a group of these tiny teeny boppers all the sudden I'm the "big girl".......I know I look good, expecially after kids (sorry, not trying to be concieted) but my dream job is starting to take a toll on my confidence level and I am beginning to be a bit self concious.I want to show my kids that if you work hard dreams do come true but I refuse to give in and starve myself or diet to get "thinner". I guess my question is .....should I forget about my dream and throw in the towel in order to save my emotional well being and stay healthy or do I deal w/ being the "big girl",try a diet or two, and pray my kids don't take notice?

You are a mother. Decide if your health or your children are more important and guess which one will keep you happy.

Besides, those "sticks" aren't models, they're walking coat hangers. You sound HOT to me, and trust me when I say that REAL women are coming back into vogue.

Or be a bulemic sellout and explain to your children why mommy is going to counseling soon.

I don't quite understand what you mean... I am a size 2-4 and my hips are 36 inches... I say it's curves, how big does a butt have to be? Last time I checked 36-24-36 was the ideal woman!

I do agree with you, 34-24-34 is more like a celery stick but if you are bigger than 36 you should definitely lose weight IMHO if you want to be a model.

I can give you only my personal opinion on this.

I am a man, 30 years old. I myself, and all my friends (pretty much all men I know) prefer women like you. The skinny stick-like figures that we see these days are products of a certain section of the media.

First of all, it is against nature, women are not meant to look like malnourished boys. Secondly, it is bad for health and might cause problems for the woman especially for conceiving or delivering children. Also, as you mentioned, that sort of a figure is usually achieved at a very high physical and emotional cost. Why would you want to torture yourself?

Once again, I dont know about others, but from the numbers I would say you are fine. Dont let other people decide how you should feel about your body.

how can you throw in the towel and forget your career what you have to ask yourself is how much you want it , if your not willing to give up fancy food then you obviously dont have a deep ambition to go after your job and its a pity because you sound perfect just need more confidence !!!

If you don't follow your dreams, you'll never forgive yourself. But if it effects your kids, you might have to re-evaluate things. It could be your real dream is still hidden. Kids come first always.
