Probably because it's tart and your mouth and tongue is puckering from the sourness.

Also, you may have a tongue piercing and the acidity is stinging your tongue... lol

Your sensitive tongue is reacting to the natural citric acid produced by lemons. Try to drink in moderation.

It is the citric acid that attacks the tongue or other mouth parts that are irritated in any way.

I'm not sure, but I find that lots of foods hurt my tongue, it could be some sort of mineral deficiency, I suffer from anemia.

it's very high in citric acid. most likely that's what's burning your tongue.

prbably because the lemon is sour and tarty that your taste buds will get iiritated (sp?) a little bit. but doen't worry about it, this happens to me, too! more like everybody!LoL
