I was reading a book in my living room and listening to music; so, I did not hear the neighbor girl walk in and check out what was in my refrigerator.

She found my stash of leftover chicken with the adjika I put on it. Either because of my cooking or because she was not accustomed to this dish, she began to vomit all over my kitchen sink and screaming for me to come in there to "help."

I told her that I hope she feels better and that I am sorry that my food made her ill, and then I diplomatically told her to go away and leave my food alone next time. Now I feel bad for saying it, but should I? She snuck in there and took my food though, and I had to microwave Jell-O snack packs for dinner that night instead of having my nice chicken with adjika.

(And don't tell me to lock my door; I usually do for this very reason, but I forgot this time...)

No, you shouldn't feel bad, that's what she gets for snooping around.

No you should not regret what you said to her. This woman showed very poor manners by 1) coming into your home without knocking; 2) opening up your refrigerator (extremely rude); and 3) eating your food without asking (the epitome of rudeness). I'd say that if anything, she owed YOU an apology for not only the 3 things I mentioned, but also for throwing up in your sink - eeewwwwww!!! She earned her vomiting experience. You owe her nothing, and I think you were actually quite nice under the circumstances.

For heavens sake, don't feel that you must apologize! She should be apologizing to you for several reasons, not the least of which is vomiting in your kitchen. How old is this person? Talk to her parents or call the police. Have her stopped, or put a tasty dish in there with some botulism or something just for her. It looks good on her.

Well she was probably allergic to something in the food she ate and she was lucky her body decided to throw it up instead of making her really sick later. Maybe she will be more carefull what she eats next time and also she should have asked you first before just grabbing and eatting your food. SO you don't ahve to appoligize to her and as a matter of fact she should tell you she is sorry for doing that.

Classic karma. Universal justice. Whatever...just don't apologize for your neighbor's bad manners. And lock your door...you don't want to have to deal with some sort of shameless lawsuit alleging that you were guilty of enticing someone to do something that was harmful. Only in America could that happen.

I don't think that you needed to apologize for anything, she was the one in the wrong. She came into your home and refrigerator and took food that didn't belong to her and with out even asking. I would have sent her on her way as she was puking. I would have also told her that if she did it again that the cops would be called

Firstly, how could she react so quickly to your food, it takes a little while before food reaches the stomach, then to alert the brain that it has eaten something that doesn't agree with them. She must have eaten something else, somewhere else. Secondly no you should not apologize she stole.

Maybe she learned a lesson this time ...why should you appologise for the mistakes of others ..if she would have asked you for the food you could have offered the same food but warned her that it might not be to her taste..you could have offered her something else ..that she came in without asking is not your fault...

No need to apologize further - nobody should be raiding your fridge!

It would be different if you had a candy or cookie jar on the table. Normal people would ask, but it would not be unreasonable for an invited guest to help themselves.

This person wasn't even invited into your pad.

I would've made her clean it up, no matter how sick she was, and after that told her to leave my property and never, ever return. If she's very young, I'd have called her parents over to clean up for her, and then told them to keep a closer eye on their kid.
