one has 7.2 mega pixels and the other has 8.1 mega pixels "affected". would it be better to get the 7.2 or the 8.1...and if I decide on the 8.1, is an extra $200 really worth it?

also does anyone have any opinions on the two?

Personally, i think the first one is a great deal. The second one is twice the price and the features are not that significant. If money is no object, go for the first, for the better value, go for the second.

If you need free shipping, there is a link at http://www.24houredeals.com/BestBuy-coupons-27-mer.html to get free shipping.

Good luck.

There is a small difference between the physical number of megapixels (MP's) on a camera's sensor, and the number of MP's actually used (the "affected" or "effective " MP's).

The published camera specs almost always use the count actually used.

The difference between 7 MP and 8 MP is not worth the different cost (and the wait). The Sony T100 is a brand new model and they will charge list price for a while.

If you like the features, look and feel of Sony better, there are existing models of the "T" series available for much less than $400. ( I have 2 Sony's and love them. My granddaughter just got a Sony DSC-W50 for $180. She loves it!)

Good Luck

Effective megapixels are WHAT is ACTUALLY USED to make the picture.
