Because not everyone believes that God is love. Why would they when the God that is taught is love is also the God that judges and damns people who don't believe exactly a certain way, no matter how good and kind the person is.

I think my friend there are different kinds of Loves. True God is Love. He is the author of peace and harmony, actually everything. But people tend to isolate the love you have for the opposite sex as if It was something from the devil. I mean it is God who gave eve to Adam, and eventually who put the choice of love and companionship to each other.
And I also believe it is God who can give you , the person you can love.
But as far as "God is Love" is concerend, I think there is a confusion.

because for some people if takes life chnging experiances to realise he was there the whole time. However, some christians/catholics etc. that knew God was there and have had experianced misfortunes tend to blame God for whats happened. It's one of those unexplained circumstances where some people don't either want to follow a religion or they have given up.

Because it is easier to look for people. Also, for those of us who know God, we still seek love. Remember that in Gen. 2:18 says that it is not good for man to be alone.

Because some people think that everything that is going wrong in their life is God's fault. Like if someone close were to die, then that persone would blame it on God.
Also, some people just don't believe in God. Some believe in science, and others fate.

a) Not everybody is looking for love
b) Out of those who are looking for love, not all believe in the existence of a god
c) I believe you can have god without love.
(although I don't believe in the existence of a god or gods.)
Also, the point of looking for love is sex, and ultimately procreation. One cannot have sex with God.

Because not everyone decides to take that direct path to God. They have to live and learn for themselves, but God is always there for them.

Because they know they cannot see Him, so they don't go looking for Him! All they have to do is look around everywhere and see Gods gifts to us! The sky and all the planets etc.The earth and all its beauty. And then all they have to do is look in the mirror and see a miracle of birth. We all came from a tiny seed planted in our Mothers womb to grow.God is like the wind, which we cannot see neither, but we know it is there!
