My sister has had it for the past few years, and up until last thanksgiving it was bareable for her. She had a severe flare up and was sent to the hospital for about a month... she's been put on asacol, steroids(prednizone), immunosuppressors(remicade) and the like.. shes even tried the homeopathic methods...

Im really worried, because nothing else has worked, and she feels like there is no other way to deal with it. Please, i'd appreciate it if anyone can share their experiences or any advice for treatment.

My daughter-in-law has ulcerative colitis and all natural Optiflora helped her greatly. It actually started treating the condition and not just masking the symptoms as the prednisone did.

It's a two product system which includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora). Due to its patented encapsulation process, it guarantees the delivery of 500 million microflora to intestines. It's perfectly safe for all ages and causes no side effects.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Those are all good strong medicines. One of the best things Ulcerative Colitis patients can do for themselves is to quit smoking. If the new drugs, like Remicade , Humira or Imuran do not work, then consideration for removal of the colon, colectomy, would be the only known cure for this condition. Sounds drastic, but might be a good choice for her to consider.

My dad has colitis so I can understand how your feeling. I get worried about him alot. The meds are good, but she has to do a lifesyle change like my dad did.
One of the most important things you can do is keep a daily record of what you eat and what symptoms you experience. By checking your daily record, you can see what food or foods have caused flare-ups or made you feel better! contact me for more info on some great vitamins and natural remedies that my dad has been using to help him. coorsltchk@yahoo.com

If you have symptoms that are severe and do not respond to medication, you may need surgery to remove part or all of your colon. Removal of the entire colon cures ulcerative colitis.
