I'm an atheist and, although I don't think "the bible says Jesus was resurrected, so it can't be true" is a sufficient rebuttal, I think it is a massive claim to say it is the tomb of the Jesus that christianity is based on. I have not seen the program, so I am reserving judgement, but I think he's reading things into it that aren't there.

Cameron is pandering to the public and his "discovery" will be proven to be just bad science:

- The statistical analysis is not rigorous

- The name "Jesus" was a popular name at that time, appearing in 98 other tombs and on 21 other ossuaries

- There is no historical evidence that Jesus was ever married or had a child

- The earliest followers of Jesus never called him, "Jesus, son of Joseph"

- It's unlikely Joseph, who had died earlier in Galilee, would have been buried in Jerusalem

- The Talipot tomb and ossuaries probably would have belonged to a rich family, which is not a historical match for Jesus

- Fourth-century church historian Eusebius makes quite clear the body of James, brother of Jesus, was buried alone near the temple mount.

- The two Mary ossuaries do not mention anyone from Migdal, but just Mary, a common name

- By all ancient accounts, the tomb of Jesus was empty, making it unlikely that any body was moved, allowed to decay for a year, then be put into an ossuary.

- If Jesus had remained in the tomb, first-century opponents of Christianity would most certainly have found His body and put it on public display.

- Amos Kloner, the first archaeologist to examine the site, said the conclusions cannot be supported by the evidence but it's a way to make money on television. He would have nothing to do with supporting the movie's assertions. "It's nonsense," he said.

- James, the half-brother of Jesus and author of the book of James, the early leader of the church in Jerusalem, was martyred for his faith. Why does James make no mention in his letter that Jesus was not bodily resurrected? When he was about to die why didn't he just recant his beliefs and say, 'Okay, okay! My brother didn't rise from the dead. Here's where we took him. Here's where his bones are. Here's our family tomb. We made the whole thing up?' People will generally not die for a lie when they know it's a lie. Why would James die perpetuating a lie when it would have been so easy to disprove? In fact why would any of the apostles go to their deaths for something they knew to be false?

As I have expected, there has been **no scientific or historical find** that has ever been shown to disprove the authenticity of the bible's history or theology.

Kind of sad to see that all it takes is a press conference for folks to form life-altering opinions versus taking the time to rationally examine all the issues and dig a little deeper. It is the Macdonald's generation: fast, superficial, and never satisfying.

So they found ossuaries bearing the names of Jesus, James and Mary.

Jesus son of Damneus, a Jewish high priest in AD63, had a brother named James and a mother named Mary. It would make more sense for a rich man like Jesus son of Damneus to have a family ossuary in Jerusalem than it would for a poor Nazarene.

That is - if these ossuaries are authentic....one wonders....did you not hear the same thing was claimed a few years back and scientists determined it was a huge hoax?

Anyway, don't you agnostics believe that Jesus Christ never existed AT ALL? Now you're saying he DID exist? Make up your minds!

First - they gained't discover His bones. he's risen 2d - He replaced into no longer married to anybody. 0.33 - he's the Son of God and He led a sinless existence. Fourth - Discovery Channel is often putting something directly to snatch visitors -including exhibits approximately Jason and the Argonauts and King Tut's secret. that's in simple terms yet another instruct. that's solid and it could make a number of people who already low-priced Christianity much extra firmly entrenched of their ideals yet I doubt that it will make any thinking Christian substitute their ideals.

I will be watching the discovery channel. I also will be taping the program. I will not desire to change my religion at all. I still believe that the soul of Christ is alive even if they find a body. Also, the idea of Christ having a son or being married doesn't change him from being my Savior. Jewish men were pressured to be married. He was a good Jew, and it's very possible he was married. It doesn't bother me or my faith.

As P.T. Barnum once said, " There is a sucker born every minute." And if you believe that garbage, you are one of those suckers and I have some prime real estate to sell you on the top of Mt. Vesuvius.

If you study the culture of that era and the people you would know that it is all a farce. It is just another anti Christian propaganda jab.

It is really sad that you have so much hate for the one that gave up His life for you to be saved from your sin so that you would have eternal life in Heaven.
May God have mercy on your soul.

They tried this in 1980 and it didn't wash. They always bring something Anti-Christian up every Easter Season, like clockwork.Last year it was the fake Gospel of Judas.Usually they publish some long forgotten coucil findings on the late writings of the gospels. That also is bogus. They were all finisshed before the turn of the 1rst century. The earliest church fathers quote from them so much you could write a bible from them.

Nope, because whoever claims that they found Jesus' remains is either deluded or a bald-faced liar.

Jesus is in heaven at the right hand of the Father. He never married, and He never had any children.

You know, I could take a book written in Spanish and claim it says something it doesn't, and if you don't know Spanish, you don't know if I'm lying or not. See what I'm saying?

Furthermore, the name Jesus is a form of Joshua and it was a fairly common name back then. It's popular in Hispanic countries even today, in fact. The name Mary (Miriam) was also popular...the New Testament alone names no less than three Marys!

No. But i'd worry about your own soul burning into nothing.
as the previous post, "dont believe everything you see or hear", if a person is ignorant that person can still perish out of ignorance.
But if a person knowingly chooses to die burned in hell who would feel sorry for him/her? The devil laughs at you , under his fairytales , beware he might devour your entire body before your brain figures out that in fact, your salvation is what you cannot see and the fairy tale you think is Christianity, is the very thing you are convinced of but on satan's side all his fairytales he feeds you to NOT BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU SHOUDL BELIVE. The fairy tale will end for you on judgment day. Know that.
