How old are you?
if you are within the range of 3-17, you should see the social problems of that. We all know that children know what they are doing is wrong. When we cheat on a test, we know its wrong because we have this fear of getting caught, but we also believe that we need to get good grades and therefore they think critically about what they are doing and they understand the consequences. Teens know that drugs are illegal, but do it anyway because they believe that they are right, or they know that if they get caught they know that they will just get a slap on the wrist. When juveniles murder, they to get a slap on the wrist saying that, its the parents fault that they should have kept a better look at their guns, when it is the childs problem. The child knows what guns do and what they do to people and they made their own choice to do it and they know they will get in trouble if they get caught. The only true people who should not get tried are amoral people (those who cant tell the difference between conventional right and wrong) and insane children.
if your 18 or older, you know that once you turn 18 that you gotta be careful now because your screwed if you commit a crime. That means you know that all the things you did before were wrong.

The problem with this area of law is that no one agrees when a person fully knows right from wrong. But there are some crimes that are so vicious that we must extend liability to minors. The way things are today many minors commit terrible crimes, understand what they were doing and show no remorse for the victims. Each case is usually evaluated based seriousness of the crime, character of the minor, and actions of the minor during the trial. For instance no state tries a 14 year old for shoplifting as an adult. But a 15 year old that planned to murder a girl because she rejected him and he shoots her several times in cold blood should not get a pass.

I am becoming more and more aware of some offenders' and I am thinking that If they have the Mindset what they have done is cool, and they mange to do the offense that they should be tried in one degree
I have personally witnesses 2-3 adult persons who are nearing their 50's and while they were still in their teens had offended and Tried, and resisted doing physical time for their offenses
Later, when discussion came up, some of the conversation was so void of a contrite heart, that some how breaking the Law or offending in one manner other the other such as DWI or Assault, they said nothing that measured the offense but rather something they joked about
I never cared for it and sometimes as Adults' tho in the public eye, they just never accepted their own guilt and might even Joke about it (Youngsters' around and all)..they begin to preach and totally forget that they WERE there at one point in their lives.

Why should they? Because apparently the juvenile court systems are failing. Less than two weeks ago, a detective in my city was shot and killed in the line of duty by a kid who had just turned 15. Who had been in trouble an awful long time - with several run-ins in the past year alone - but yet, he went pretty much unpunished. I certainly hope he is certified to stand trial as an adult this time around - he deserves no less than life in prison for his latest crime. The juvenile system has become a joke and the crimes youth are committing are just getting worse and worse.

There is an age where you know right from wrong. Should adults be tried as juveniles? No way. If you are old enough to get a drivers license then you are old enough to be tried as an adult. There is a 17 year old punk here in Utah getting charged with four counts of vehicular homicide, DUI and a bunch of other crimes. He was flying down a freeway and went head on into a family driving the opposite direction. He is being tried as an adult. And he should be.

I think they should get a taste of what adults would get because then that might actually make them go straight as an adult. I got 3 weeks for stealing a car and ill tell you that scared the **** outta me. I was only 15. now im 28 have a wife 2 kids and never been in trouble with the law since then.

If the juvenile had thought before he or she acted out
and committed a crime he or she must have realized the consequence was going to be based on the severity of the act
So if you are grown up enough to do what you want to do then
you can do the time for your crime, It is just that simple, everything you do in life is based on a choice, therefore you must make right decisions.

In gangs they have juveniles commit the crimes because they will not be prosecuted. Now that is changing because the youth is growing up faster.
Truthfully the death penalty should be more inhumane. Putting someone to sleep has NO deterent effect. Most gang members have continplated suicide; death doesn't scare them.

Age to me has no bearing. You kill someone as a baby, you may want to be placed to demise. easily unintended deaths should be intently appeared at although. yet like teenage gang bangers and druggies and such, all of them understand what there doing...enable the punishment extra healthful the crime.

They need to be prosecuted as adults because the crimes they commit are heinous in nature and indicate that they are sociopaths.
