Lake Ontario is the eastern-most and smallest in surface area of the Great Lakes. Its primary inlet is the Niagara River (from Lake Erie) and primary outlet (to the Atlantic Ocean) is the St. Lawrence River.

st lawrence river and hudson river

the genesee river comes off of lake ontario, near Rochester NY, the erie canal goes off that, connects down at the hudson river, the hudson river lets out down by NYC and exits out the port of NYC, into the atlantic ocean. the hudson also connects directly to lake ontario as well as to the erie canal.
