Some people dont know how believe it or not. You could teach him though. The way you do that is when he comes home from work (or anytime but about once a day do this), tell him you love him then give him a big hug.
At first he may stiffen up and feel awkward about it but over time if you dont give up (and it could take years) he will someday say it to you and give you a hug.

The trick is to not give up. I know someone who had a parent like yours & they did this and it did work after awhile.

Hi, well I never had my dad around but when I have seen him he never showed emotion for me either. If you live with your dad or even see him the best thing is for you to tell him that you love him and show him the affection with the hug. Your dad must have a tuff time with showing how he feels, I'm pretty bad with that myself but anyhow with you doing this this will help your dad start to feel comfortable with it and one day he will surprise you with an I love you and a hug. There is always a reson behind everything and just know that your dad does love you very much there's just something that he has a hard time with and if you help him I'm sure that he will be fine soon enough.

Well good luck.

If you want to be hugged, you may have to tell him that. Men do not always read the cues properly and he may find hugging difficult. Lots of people find touching hard. I think it's up to those of us who don't to make sure we hug and touch as much as possible. If he loves you, just tell him you'd like a hug, or that you need a hug, but remember, most problems occur because people don't speak, they don't communicate. Tell him what you need and go from there. Good luck.

Maybe he doesn't know you need to hear it. Sometimes men think the things they DO for you is an appropriate way of howing love. So, he may think that providing a hous/computer for you is how he shows love, or he may do other things.
Men and women often speak different languages. Try to let him know that you need to hear it.
Hug him. Tell him you love him. If he doesn't respond.... well, just don't try to replace him with another father figure.

Try to talk to him about it and tell him you don't feel that he loves you as a father.
