First let me say that I have no desire to lose more weight, look like a supermodel, or be able to count my ribs. I do not want to gain weight either as I feel I'm at my ideal 5'10" @ 130lbs. I do have some weird behaviors with food but I would not say that it is an eating disorder as I am not trying to lose weight. I basically eat one meal a day (lunch) and then snack on raw vegetables (I'm vegetarian) other times. I am very healthy and workout as much as I can.

I LOVE candy and crave it, but never let myself eat it...in a sense. Lately I've been buying like 10 bags of candy at a time and when I'm alone chewing it up and spitting it in the trash (so I'm not actually eating it). I know most people would think this is weird (and maybe a little gross) but I justify it by saying that if I actually did eat the candy I would be overweight by now and very unhealthy. I do not tell anyone I do this as it is kind of embarrassing behavior but I don't feel bad about it.

Opinions? Thanks :)

no not weird ,you are doing just fine, you have agreat figure the veggies are great just make sure to watch the carbo vs calorie intake you are marching on athin line, the sugar cravings are a trigger point,if your matabolism changes one way or the oyher you will have to change something, just because your not swallowing the starch you are getting what could make you balloon, you might talkto another nutritanalist by eating three times less amounts you can actually put less calories in your diet , if anything changes hurry talk to some one ,illb here ,keep up great work, dont be mean to your friends they only have your best at heart,

As a healthcare provider I am telling you to get professional help. You are exhibiting a food behavior disorder (anorexia). You don't have to be bone thin to have this disorder...you just have to be participating in certain behaviors....and you definately are. Seek help before it goes any further. You know you are concerned yourself...or you would have never posted this question. What's alarming to me is the number of responces you have gotten where people have told you it's OK and even 'a good idea".

Well.....i guess it's a good idea to eat candy and then spit it out without actually eating it.
That's actually kinda smart too.
You're still getting the sweetness of the candy but it's not really affecting the body.

Smart!!! :-D

hey it makes sense. cuz you still get the good flavor's of the junk food, but its not going into your system. i was thinking about doing that, but thought {like you} it might be weird if someone walked in and saw a trashcan full of chewed up and spit out candy haha. hey, if it works, do it!

Eat the damn candy. Skinny anorexic @$$.it makes sense to just swallow it, then maybe you won't crave it as much. and just exercise more, then the candy won't affect you plus every body needs some sugar. And exercise is good for ya anyways.

I do not see that as a problem. Most people chew gum and spit it out. I think as long as your not vomiting it up I would not worry about it. However if you are really doing more then what you are sharing with us, please seek the help of a professional. Take care of yourself.

You're still getting calories. As the candy dissolves, you taste the sweetness, the sugar is in your saliva. Unless you spit all of your saliva out (like somebody chewing tobacco), you are eating a bunch of sugar.

5'10" and 130 pounds, working out "as much as I can", and eating only one meal a day? It sounds like anorexia nervosa to me! You have all the symptoms. Moderate cases of this illness do not exhibit wasting as is seen with bony models, who have a severe case. You need to see a psychiatrist.

You should talk to a professional about this before you get into serious trouble.
