NO don't do mayo it will stink! Use a 'hair mask' or deep conditioning treatment. Try Boots' Cococunt and Almond one, it smells lovely. Or get one by John Frieda (Brilliant Brunette, Sheer Blonde, Frizz Ease) or TIGI. TIGI is a salon make though, so may be a bit pricey. But its well worth it

Check out their site:

And click products.

I also would recommend getting your hair trimmed or cut, to eliminate all the split ends, as these will only get worse if you leave them.

MAYONNAISE IS NOT THE ANSWER! I HAVE AN EVEN BETTER ANSWER!!!

I tried mayo. It worked okay, but left me smelling like mayo. Everyone who got close enough told me so.

Here are the best and fastest methods. TRUST ME!!!

1) Buy an ALOE VERA conditioner. (The one I got is by "Grisi" and was only 2 dollars at Rite Aid) It really is a miracle worker. I put it on my damp, towel tried hair at night, covered my head in ceran wrap (shower cap would probably have been more convenient haha) and I did this every other night for a week. My hair is in GREAT condition now.

Aloe Vera is a key ingredient in fixing damaged hair. For some reason no one tells you that.

First discard using all kinds of straighteners and hair products like gel or mouse, and don't color your hair. Try using Trader Joe's Nourish spa shampoo & conditioner, it really works and it's all natural so it won't add crap to your hair. Also try going to a salon and get a blow dry, this may help burn of the splits, at trim may also help when getting a blow dry. I hope this may have helped you in some way!

Don't just use a regular conditioner use a deep conditioner you may need to go to the hair salon for that. For a deep condition at home get a conditioner for dry and damage put it in your hair put a shower cap on and then take a shower the heat will help lock in moisture into your hair. Also you may need to use moisturizing hair products and oils to retain moisture in your hair.

Experience has thought me ... give your hair a 2 or three night break from washing every week .. constant washing stripes your hair of it's natural Oils. It may start to look flat and lifeless.

The other thing to consider is Conditioner that is suited to your hair type. don't just pick up a cheep bottle from super market.
Companies like Joico and Fudge have excellent damaged hair products. Sure fire way to get that shine and life into your hair again .

drink more water, If you use a lot of gels and hair sprays that also will dry your hair out because they contain alcohol. Make sure you are using conditioners for moisture like deep conditioners that should be left on your hair for 30min with a plastic cap.

don't use heat!

that means no straighteners, or blow dryers, or curlers.

They also have products for dry hair. So, look in a drug store to see all types of hair creams.

I had the same problem as you, but i use Pantene Pro V Conditioner and my hair isn't as dry.
