Anatomy is a difficult subject to remember - about 25% of my year failed it. Many structures look similar or have similar names. I never thought I would pass because I couldnt get it to stick. The way I finally did was verbal and visual practise. I would go to our anatomy museum every day after university to start with and spend two - three hours practising out loud (yes people thought I was crazy) the names of one area of focus eg the arm. Once I knew that area really well, I would add on another eg the leg. I used crazy pictures and anagrams to help for those obscure names. I made my friends test me and I would have races with them to name everything. Towards the end I only practised once a week and was correcting my university tutor. I knew my anatomy almost perfectly and it took me less time to get through more work. My proof that it worked for me, I finished in the top two in my course. Not the top because I forgot to add in the brain stem notesv(doh). I think it took me about 3 weeks of holidays to forget it all again but I know I could do it if I had too. Lucky I am not a doctor!
Good luck with your course.

Association and acronyms helped me the most. I remember my day in A&P. If I could draw it or explain it, it stuck. Honestly though, you will forget 90% of what you learn in A&P, and will retain in detail what you actually use once you are out of school. A&P is a life-long learning.
A study partner may be able to help you, or interactive computer programs.

There is a very good book out there called "The anatomy coloring book" http://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Coloring-Book-3rd/dp/0805350861
I know it sounds dumb but get the book and a bunch of color pencils and go at it! As you color the item in review it over and over and really concentrate on staying in the lines. It got me through A&P!!!!

TRY RECOLLECTING ALL THE NAMES BY EIETHER ASSOCIATION OR ACRONYMS FOR EXAMPLE A WORD MAY REMIND YOU OF SOMETHING OR YOU RECALL THE LETTERS EG ACATINTHEHOUSEMAYEATTHEICECREAM IS MANY LETTERS THAT REMIND YOU OF THE WORD ITSELF. i HAD TO REMEMEBR SOME MDES SO I JUST WOULD INVENT ACRONYMS LIKE falps- FLOVASTATIN,ATORVASTATIN LOVARSTATIN,PEROSOMEWHAT AND SIMVASTATIN THEY AREE ALL ANTI HYPERGLIDEMICS. HOPE THIS HELPS- TRY TO SEE HOW THEY ARE RELATED TO THE BODILIY FUNCTIONS RATHER THAN STUDING THEM IN A VACUUM

when i was an anat student i always incorporate every part of my body to wat i am studying. like for example when it deals with muscles. i try to relate it to my muscles so i wont forget. giving some acronyms also will help. like for example code name ECLU which means extensor carpi, common digital, lateral digital and ulnaris lateralis. and it really helps. and try to talk to ur classmates using anat words even in simple conversation. it sounds odd i know but its a very big help. practice makes perfect as they say and its true.
