The arguments for Calvinism can be found in John Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion", but also in other Reformed and Presbyterian documents such as the Heidelberg catechism, the canons of the Synod of Dort, the Belgic confession (Reformed), and the Westminster Confession of Faith (Presbyterian). A good web site with excellent arguments for Calvinism can be found at www.reformed.org.

The main one that I remember is omnipotence. If god really knows all, he knows exactly who will enter his kingdom, even before they are born. So, without predetermination, the quality of gods omnipotence goes out the window.

And they backed it up with verses because, you know, you can back anything up with verses.

Here is a website from some creepy organization like Hot Calvinists Online http://www.calvinistcorner.com/tulip.htm - should take about 10 minutes to read. Goes over the 5 primary calvinist points with verses.
