A few ideas:
- Use a moisturizing shampoo like Elucence
- Don't shampoo every day. Experiment with every other day or twice a week.
- At night, braid your damp hair with a moisturizing product. In the morning, take out the braids. Don't comb or brush, just finger style.

there's a chemical service in salons called a soft curl permanent, where you hair is relaxed and then permed on larger rods for a softer effect. if done professionally it shouldn't be too damaging. i haven't seen your hair, so i don't know if that's an option for you, but it's worth looking into. as far as teachers making you uncomfortable about you hair, i think this is unacceptable behavior by a teacher. perhaps they think they are just joking and that you are not taking them seriously. it's hard to confront a teacher about something like that, so you may want to enlist the help of a parent or principle, possibly school counseler, or talk to the peer counseling group. if a teacher makes remarks about your hair, then it sends a signal to the other students that it's ok. when it's not

even though u are trying to prevent moisture loss from straightening and blowdrying, the truth is that curly, poofy hair still needs moisture even if u don't damage it in any way. what i use is biolage ultra- hydrating shampoo and balm. it is pretty expensive, but definatly worth it. it is made for people with especially thick, curly, poofy, course hair. what i love most about it though is that it helps control unwanted volume, which is something i really needed. most products now are made with volumizing crap, but they never have anything that really worked to control our hair type. just remember that naturally curly hair is curly for a reason: it does not have as much moisture as straight or fine hair. so keep using products that are made to moisturize your hair. i have been living with curly, afro-like, frizzy, poofy hair all my life. i'd get so embarrassed when i went to salons for them to blowdry my hair cuz they'd make jokes like wow, ur giving me a workout or they'd get 2 people to blowdry my hair at the same time cuz my hair was that bad, but don't let it get to you. we just have to find a way to conrtol our hair. theres nothing wrong with it. it's beautiful, thick and people would kill to have it. hope i helped nd good luck!!!!!

maybe you should invest in buying a better and more expensive straightener? if that doesnt work, then you can get it professionally straightened with chemicals at a hair salon.
