Creatine is converted into creatine phosphate in the muscles. This is a molecule that stores energy (the phosphate group) for sudden bursts of energy required by the muscle for contraction.

The human body produces creatine from the amino acids glycine and arginine. The process of synthesis of creatine requires a biochemical step called 'methylation'. Methylation effectiveness is dependent on adequate levels (which vary from person to person depending on genetic variability) of several B-vitamins (B6, Folate, B12, B2, B3 and Choline/betaine).

Best wishes.
