I am an international student and recently i have been getting alot of severe pains in my knees....I am praying that it is not arthritis.....it gets very difficult when I sit down and have to get back up. I would like to Know what are my options as an international student.... if any, in seeking medical attention (I am aware that i can go to a doctor and pay a very high bill but I am looking for a cheaper method ...if it exists)

Are you a high school student or college student?

I was a F-1 college student . And I needed to pay for my health insurance fee every semester because international students were required to pay for the fee to use the campus health center.

Anyway, if you are a college student, you can just go to your college health center because you can use your health insurance (if you are paying for the health insurance fee to use the facility) and it's probably cheaper than going to the clinics outside the campus since you don't have the insurance to go to the kind of clinics. But if your parents have told you that you have national health insurance stuff, you might be able to go to general clinics but you have to call the clinic that you want to make an appointment at and ask if you can use your national health insurance. But before you call any clinics, you need to call your parents and ask what kind of national insurance you have. So you can make sure if you can really go to the clinics other than the campus health center.

And I just want to say that nobody can really tell you which clinic is cheaper or what is cheaper really because you didn't give us the detailed information of your health insurance and we don't know what kind of insurance you have. But if you are just an international student, just go to a campus health center because I assume that you're paying the health insurance fee every semester to use the facility.

By the way, when I was a student, I had a severe chest pain and my doctor thought that I had arthritis. She took my blood and examined what it was and the result was that I didn't have arthritis but costochondritis. The fee wasn't that expensive. It was about $ 50 dollars when I took the blood test. But usually seeing my doctor didn't really cost me anything. And my prescription cost about $20 dollars each month. And the prescrition (Naprelan) was actually for arthritis. My chest pain was really bad that I needed to take strong medicine.

Anyway, it all depends on what kind of insurance you have. If you don't have your health insurance for the campus health center, you need to pay a full price when you use the facility. So just make sure what kind of insurance you have before making an appointment at any health clinics.
